Don't take my comment the wrong way. All I'm saying is $1800 seems like a lot for one of these engines, but when the seller includes a gasket set or covers a couple hundred dollar shipping bill $1800 is fairly reasonable.

I paid $1800 for a 4.6 once. It had just gotten a valve job and new head gaskets. It included the oil pan & valve cover gaskets. If someone just yanked it from a donor truck I wouldn't pay more than $1500. If you put a little make up on it and throw in a couple new gaskets I might pay $1800 again.
