I have a 99 Discovery II in Oklahoma i want to sell. it has 181000 miles and is a decent truck for a disco. i have maintained it my self with any repair made i tried to improve the durability of the truck. the tie rod and track rods are replaced with serviceable solid units from Rovers North and...
you can also remove and replace one spark plug wire at a time and listen for any change. if the knock disappears when a wire is pulled and comes back when re connected it could mean you have a big end loose.
I have used this with much success in the past. http://rislone.com/product/engine-treatment-2/ drain 1 quart from your crankcase and replace with this product. then drive it for a few weeks and see if it gets better. another good for this is Marvel Mistery Oil . sometimes it takes a few...
I would try some plain old 15 w 40 and see if that makes a difference. my 99 doesn't like the 5 and 10 weight oils either. chances are this will fix your noise. it won't cost much to try.
I would not put my personal safety in the hands of a disco. if i had to i would have some sort of back up. now for my similar experience with a disco in cold wet environment. " keep a very good battery" I have had a battery that would start the truck just fine but the alarm immobilizer system...
yes you are correct. and on another note, the original set up was a much weaker design and was also without zerks and it lasted 180000miles before failure. so i will just monitor their condition and if i have a premature failure i can just replace that end with a new end with a zerk.
I just installed the proline 30mm steering rod set on my 99 DII. I have to say I am impressed with the quality and fit. the only exception is the lack of a grease zerk on the ends.
lets admit that in today's world of exacting tolerances in cars and trucks that Land Rover is more of "built in a blacksmith shop" in that arena. but it was nice to buy a product that had the right amount of play and the right amount of flex to be able to fit such a car without major re...
I just installed a Terrafirma front winch bumper i purchased from Lucky Eight. i have to say the bumper mounted up perfectly and i installed it by myself in about an hour and a half. it also has a guard for the washer bottle so i didn't have to move that and saved a lot of time.
I have a 99 Discovery II without the air suspension that has developed the three amigos. I think it is probably a wheel sensor and need to diagnose what wheel to look at. do you have a recommendation of a good code reader that will help me find the correct wheel?
