Curtis,

I do not have the CDL nub on my tcase. But you can however buy the parts that install them on these tcases. Which is what i'll most likely do. It has all the internal parts already.

and mister cable guy, what's all that merry christmas action there on the dash?
Very simple, those lights let you know you have activated CDL while deactivating ETC and ABS. This is an option with my kit. Something a stock 04 cannot do.

Which would be a better tire choice for a stock D2 with no CDL for sand driving 245/75-16 BFG All-Terrain or 265/70-16 BFG All-terrain?

yeah, my 03 was fine out in the sand with ETC alone but of course the CDL would've helped!

Ho,
CDL+ETC worked great for TOWING IN THE SAND, but for solo jaunts the CDL alone seemed to work best.

Koby has a convert-->it is dual TT for me vice TT/DT. ETC+TT=

I think you mean + ETC. The TT + ETC part is the magic equation. TT's bring the ETC to life and vice versa. It is like they were made to be together :D

Agreed. It was my first time out with dual TTs. Of course, my ETC is rear wheels only but I could tell the CDL, ETC and the TT were very happy to have finally met ;) Quite the little menage a trois going on down there :D

Shane,

I would be well interested to see the parts list and rough idea of costs for your idea of obtaining the parts to install the 'nub' on the transfer case.

Jeremy,

I haven't looked that far into it yet. A tech told me it could be done and I've also read it on here. Someone, don't remember who, said their dealer could do it for about $1000. If I have more time I'll try and dig up the link. I'll also take a look at the Rave CD for parts when I get more serious about it.

I too have never heard about this conversion, but I guess anything can be done though. Its likely gonna be a lot more than $1000 if a dealer does it. The T-case will have to be pulled, cracked, at least partially disassembled, case cut, then new parts on n' in, then reinstalled. Not a monumental task in itself, but probably not cheap either.

Just buy a different t-case and you can have it in ' out in a day. Bill at GBR has what looks like 50 LT230's just sitting on shelves...

ETC is just bad , ETC in the sand is reeeeeeeeeeeeaalll bad. Lets see , lets apply the brakes as much as we can while they are full of sand and we are on the throttle.... Hmm , that sounds like a plan . What could go wrong ??

Just to throw a little extra confusion into this thread. There is another equation that should be considered when dealing with sand:

(R)1150(GS) + Adventure

Well, yes that sounds like a bad idea in theory. What seemed to be happening in my case was a brief burst of ETC (rear wheels only) before the TT took over. The result was very pleasing :D

CDL Conversion

Shane,
Call Bil at Great Basin Rovers, he has been working on a conversion kit to add CDL, I am not sure if it is ready yet or not.
And, I believe The ETC can be turned off on an 04 by using a text book.
