Seriously, why do you care?

Usually, I wouldn't - But he had to throw in that lame ass poser comment, "DID SOME ONE SAY BIG REDS"
Had he just said, "Hey, check out my repainted calipers - I think they look great". I would have said nothing and gone on to the next thread categorizing the one in question as your usual poser dipshit Rennlist member trying to get a pat on the back from the rest of the group for doing something quite rudimentary and useless.

I really hope someone throws this on Rennlist so that Alex punk can read it. He was SO bent outta shape by my comments that he spent a week sending me PM's asking for my address so he could challange me to a boxing match and settle it like gentleman. I told him if he wanted to show up at my house he'd be staring down the business end of my M1 Super 90. THAT is what got me banned, the first time :)

Thats it. I am painting rims throughout my neighborhood, against their wishes.
ThenI will go to the mall and wrap some rims in camo duct tape, and I will post all the pics here.
There will be angry banter, with small men making creative perjorative commentary they would avoid in the real world.
My brakes will be rainbow colored as well.
Long live the rattle can

I'm not angry, and I for sure ain't small...And if you painted your calipers to look like a rainbow I'd call you a fucking retard to your face. Put that in your rattle can and smoke it :)

LOL Luke, nice to see you back.

The fucking Rennlist is retarded. I would not find the BIG RED thing to get fired up over, but you apparently touched just the right nerve of the guy. This was exactly what he intended to do! And, from the physics prospective, if there was any sense in painting the brake calipers in any color, it should be matte black - to get the heat out. Actually, they should be anodized black.

Wheels are a different matter. I admit to painting a set of wheels Alpine White, and debating whether I should paint a set of matte black steelies white as well.

I've powdercoated almost everything under the hood on my 1999 DII over the past two weeks during my motor swap, 4.0-4.6. I chose british racing green, gloss black, and yellow highlights. My wheels are gloss black as well. Got a prototype steel bumper from DAP unfinished and will be customizing it and powdercoating black also. The plenum is green, intake makifold is green, valve covers are black with green stripes, oil pan is green, water pump is black, pulleys are all black, front cover is black, oil dip stick holder is yellow, etc. etc. I also ceramic coated my exhaust manifolds silver. I will have pics up VERY soon. I gotta get the motor running first!!!, but you may be able to see the benefits from powder coating after you see how well the engine and wheels came out. All the work was done by Precision Powder Coating in Anchorage, AK. Look for the post in the next few weeks...

It's sort of a marketing device for the business as well... I just happened to be doing a motor swap during their inception, so I was a test-run volunteer... The racing green is an industry matched color... It will all come together with the 18" pro-line wheels in black as well...

You can touch it up with anything you want. The difference is that when you touch up powdercoating, the paint doesn't keep breaking apart from the scratched area. Think of it this way, spray paint acts like a shell. Once you break the shell, it falls apart. Powdercoating doesn't do that. The remaining paint doesn't break away like the spray paint does.

Well any chips I had in my RTE bumper, skid and sliders sure started to flake and peel pretty fast. Had to have them completely redone like a year later. Sure they rusted underneath but that's along the same lines as cracking the shell on paint you mention. Interested on reading more on this debate as I decide which way to do my wheels.

I used Duplicolor wheel paint on mine.

1. Sanded
2. 10 coats color
3. 10 coats clear coat

Held up really well. If they start to go south and look bad i'll just repeat steps 1-3. Except not do ten coats again.
