Thanks for the best post of the whole damn thread.

It's amazing how they land those, just keep on going. Each shock is worth more than our trucks, but yeah...

Gem, could you make a distinction between post count and engineering knowledge?

yeah PM, I can, I can all tell the difference between some guy with a stock disco who reads alot of tuner magazines, likely other boost centric forums, and posts up links of cars and photos he jerks off to versus some idiot talking shit in a thread about 100 octane in a d2 he manged to afford and is too scared to really off road, as per the pics he himself posted of him uh 'wheeling'

this aint tunerweb.org!

my point is simple, I dont know him, am not familiar with his post history and have been here long enough to know who I dont need to respond to, and who doesnt matter, and he wont

... so he can prance around in his fuckus all he wants, and use the "lets see what happens" approach to his disco...not me

I 'm not putting in no racing gas in my d2, no sense getting my cats that hot. but I'm technically lacking, ay? wait, i dont know how to wheel, wrench or post. like i say, if hes so technically adept, shouldnt he know better? Some things havent changed much since even the older jetronic stuff

he has no knowledge based on his posts that I have read, just lots of free time and stupid immature ideas

You are technically lacking, Gem, always have been. Hope's there, however, if you drop the kindergarten habits and listen.

FWIW, could you explain why carburetted engines very often ping badly in Death Valley or near Salton Sea?

Jack, maybe the go back to India isn't a big deal, but I think "dothead" is being pretty dickish of Poopiter.

I can't crawl inside the mind of the poster but I read "dothead" as some kind of racial slur.
It's intent is to disparage not just gmhooker but also any Indian, Hindu or South Asian.
It's also pretty fucking lame.

My diction was entirely different.
Of course, one has to think critically and for oneself to recognize that. Most would prefer the knee-jerk social conditioning their accustomed to.

Instead of spending all that money on higher octane gas, I just use 85 octane and add water.
So far, I've been able to add up to 25% water and the resistance to ignition has been excellent!
Sometimes it's hard to start, and I usually have to hold my foot on the gas pedal to keep it running, but I now have the equivalent of 10000000 octane fuel!
I think if I get the BeCM remapped to account for the intake swirlicator, the HeVAC will be able to adjust the inter(ior)cooler for maximum poundfeet of velocity.
And, with the Twist Air Performance Spiral Technology, soon I'll be able to use up to 15% less gas!
I'm thinking of adding a water injector system, what's the largest injector I can use without a lift kit?

My last carburetter car project was a datsun 510 hot rod,OE was Hitachi, I later installed mikuni, which used a combination of venturi valves and a 'BCDD' that would stay part open for altitude compensation, when air is more dense the Floats just dont recalibrate on their own to changes in barometer as well, especially where jets are pushing more fuel, either via vaccum or via a solenoid, mixture screw settings needs to shift to work at different altitudes, or you run lean at sea level or rich in the mountains.

There's hope, after all.

The answer to the question of the thread is - yes, you can use non-leaded racing gas, but the only real way to get any tangible benefit is to reprogram the chip so it can both run richer mixture and advance ignition timing more.

Ok about the "dothead" thing. I deleted it as soon as I posted it, and You Gem brought it back up. You pretty much racial slurred your self.
The fact that you posted it without thinking, as a reaction, is what clearly makes you a racist.
That was your initial response, not what you carefully considered.
Your gut response was to be a racist.
After reading your post, you decided maybe that wasn't right & deleted it.

I won't argue against that. At least I saw the error of my ways and decided to change it.

Can anyone recommend a good site in which people actually show respect and actually have modified Land Rovers where they like to gather and discuss trips/expeditions and not talk about trying to make their truck into a rocket???

This makes me sad... look at the three trucks in the header of this site and tell me if you think any of their owners were concerned with high school remedial shit such as running race fuel.

I guess I think about the explorers in the London To Singapore video telling someone "dude.. go back to india you dot head".

Sorry for the rant... but I know there are people who have roots.
