I gotta think that's referring to me, cause I don't see any other expert/engineers around here.

I'm 31, I have a wife, a kid, a dog and a nice house. I graduated with a BASc in Mech Eng from the University of Ottawa in 1999. I worked at Ford Powertrain from Jan 2000 to October 2003. I worked at Dana's Engine Fluid Management Group from November 2003 until Febuary 2006. I then went to Litens Automotive, a division of Magna, where I designed the Front End Accessory drive of the 2007 Defender, as well as supporting current production Land Rover and Jaguar product.

I was going to post photos of proof but... meh, if you don't believe me from the TECH I've written, you'll probably just suggest I photoshopped the photo anyway.

Bob
I was not refering to you.
It was a general statement.
I see posts on this board from geniuses who know everything there is to know
about everything.
Then i look at there profile and they are 19 yrs old +/- 4 yrs.

Eventualy you come to realize people around here dont take well to
bullshit ,and bullshit can get someone hurt.
The old time dwebers around here are serious about doing it right.

this is called God Complex.

get help.

No, it's called not seeing any other experts arguing against me in this thread. AntiChrist, PT, RovingBeetle, etc.... these guys aren't in here arguing against me.

Ok cool. Still, had to be said for Mookher to get it. At least now he accepts me as being an Asshole Expert. If he ever changes his attitude and treats me with a little respect, he'll find he can drop the asshole part. I'm actually the nicest guy you ever met, but I don't put up with shit from a guy like him.

I think those guys aren't in here because they know how silly they would like arguing on the internet...

You call it on yourself.

All you've ever done, since I've been here at least, is try and put down all the people with a lower post count than you to try and gain cred with all the more experienced people here. So now you're getting it from both sides. The real experts around here hate you for your pretensiousness, and the newbs are fighting back because in too many cases, you're your attacking them when you are the one that's wrong.

This may seem like a simple observation but it's actually very accurate and insightful.

Often on discoweb it's the simple truths such as this rather than the semantic nature of a given argument which are most difficult for people to grasp.
They bear pointing out once in a while.

I always wondered what it looked like to see someone dissastisfied with their real life seeking validation on the internet. Looks like I've found several examples in one thread.

Trust me, it won't be the last time on this forum either... Have you been to the General section yet? This place can be worse than a full helping of Days of Our Lives. :smilelol:

gmookher,
If you really have been here [United States] since you were only 8-months old, like you claim - and you're now 31-years old and are still not documented as a legal alien in the United States, as you allude to - I can't help but to think less of you as a person.

Take the test, man.

I'm gonna weigh in one last time.

I worked for Lear Corp. I worked with many, many "Automotive" engineers. Few of them were able to walk and chew gum at the same time, much less do actual work on their own vehicles. It seems as though Mr. Lefebvre is one of the few who is actually capable.

It was so sad to see some of the things those guys designed.

I agree. I was disappointed to get there and to most of the guys there, it was just a steady job. No passion for cars. These are the guys who came up with the idea of using a right hand threaded nut on the left hand wheel bearing, with no cotter pin or other positive retention method... and resulted in a recall due to the "wheel falling off issue".

There's a smallish "clique" in Ford of the "car guys". The rest are just clock punchers.

Let me guess, everyone here on discoweb is a US citizen? You know, I am in no way popular(can ya believe that?) but in my small circle of friends and cohorts, I have one friend who is a UK citizen, 2 who are citizens of portugal, and even one from France. They all work and live here, just like me. I guess you think less of alot of us then?

Not trying to be an ass, just saying, this is a very personal issue, not something your peers pressure ya about..

I think the puzzling part of the whole situation is the fact that you've been here for 30 years, and are still not a citizen.

I mean shit or get off the pot......if you use one that is, I'm sure that topic is a very personal one.

You have been here since you were an infant, for over 35 years, about 99% of your life, and you've chosen not to become a citizen? I'm curious as to why not? It sounds like the USA has been very good to you.

I don't know why you guys are getting so worked up about citizenship.

Green card downsides: gotta pay taxes like everyone else with a SS#
Green card upsides: no selective service (if you're a young guy), no jury duty

Can't think of anything else. Oh, yeah, you can't (legally) vote. But 60-70% of the registered voter-citizens don't vote, so I don't know if it's upside or downside.
