They only add them in the US / NA apparently, so there must be a good reason (legal?) for them. The same exact fender flares installed on Defenders abroad don't have those side lights.
US DOT requires side marker lights

You got that right motherfucker. Ain't no hot bi girls asking this old man to do them anymore.

So last story. This was the best of the best until I meant my wife. The coup de grâce. I was about 27 and had a 19 yr old college girl hire on. She worked for about a week and then showed up at the house one night. She had told me about her BF at college but filled me in on the details. Said she was going back that fall, he was going to propose to her, and she would accept. Told me his fam was uber rich and she would never have to worry about money and such again. But being young and such she wanted to "sow her wild oats" so to speak and have an affair over the summer. So every once in a while she'd be like get some porn and beer, she'd show up with weed, and we'd sit around and watch porn, drink some beer, smoke some weed, and then go knock boots. And, if it matters, she was hot, hot, hot. She never did end up marrying that guy. Married some mook like me. Went to work as a secretary for the VP of NA operations of an international company. Divorced the mook and married the VP, who was then promoted to CEO of the company. Long and winding road but in the end she got her ideal life.

I was joking about clearance lights, but you’re correct, the US does require side marker lights

WTF is wrong with you? Apparently you don't get the meaning of coup de gras. I hope that is the last story of yours I read. That is really what you remember from your youth. LMAO.

How many of my stories you read is really up to you isn't it. And yes, having a lot of sex with a beautiful young woman is a memory I'm fond of.

"coup de gras"
Used it out of context. Meaning last sex story from my "youth" I'll tell. That was my bad. Should have worded it "this will be my........".

Like I've posted to 'stew. If anything I've posted bothers you wouldn't the appropriate thing to do be to ignore it? If 'stew, so long ago, would have just not started shit all this would not exist. And yes, you can throw that back on me. I should have ignored him. But the fucking dude just wouldn't let go.

Anyway, back to the point at hand. Go fuck yourself.

OK, so some didn't like the post from my man-whore days, understood. Here's something more Defender related. A "contest" between a new vs old Defender. I'm really at a loss for words here. Except there are people in this world a lot different than me.

"ALL I HAVE TO DO IS PUSH A BUTTON," he says as he cums in his pants...

Didn't watch the whole vid. I wonder which one wins?

Jack,

I enjoy your write-ups. Very engineer-like - but not like a tech manual - so no B.S.
What is the break-in procedure for these? I've seen various comments about a 2K period, but that seems excessive.
Thanks again.
His write-ups are great!
Your question about the break-in period reminds me of when I asked that question when picking up an air cooled Porsche. The service manager overheard it and responded - drive it like you stole from mile 1. And so I did.
Now back to your question!

Well my experience with breaking in new cars is extremely limited as it wasn't until fairly recently that I could point at more than one new car ever in my driveway. (The first was a 2004 Mini Cooper S). Like all of the engines I've rebuilt I treat them gently for the first 1500-2000 miles and then do an oil change. I try not to put a lot of strain on the motor ( high revs or heavy load) until after that first oil and filter change which should get any contamination from manufacturing out of the engine crankcase. But as a retired engineer, I am always careful with the machinery.

I love this video because it perfectly depicts how I think ownership of a new Land Rover (any model) is. Have a problem, take it to the dealership, develope a new issue, take it back, dealership doesn’t know what’s wrong, Land Rover help desk is no help, a month goes by, UK engineering gets involved, vehicle still isn’t fixed

My experience with Land Rover Pasadena was that it didn't matter what year the vehicle was, they generally don't know what’s wrong. They will make you wait a month for an appointment, after you drop it off they wait a week and a half to start working on it...keep it for another two weeks and then say they can't find anything wrong. I still walk out to it every morning and the front is at access height......Can't wait to get my new Bronco and sell my last Rover.

Your both right. Because of the pay structure( labor times) good techs just go back where they came from.
Here's a good example of how they just don't pay. They have a battery tester called a GR8 charger/tester. You hook that bitch up and enter the vin, battery specs, and hit start. About 45 seconds later it will tell you how long it's going to charge the battery before it tests it. 90 min. Is about average. So now when that 90 min is up and it's tested the battery and failed it, you have to take the battery cables off the battery and test it again. It won't charge as long( maybe 25 min) then if it comes up pass this time it's a good battery. YOU CAN NOT BILL FOR A GOOD BATTERY TEST. But if you could bill for it because it failed both tests, .3 of an hour is what they pay. That's 18 min.
That's just standard issue across the board. I have 6 techs, 2 of them can actually fix problem cars, one of them just gave his notice.
Land Rover Jaguar will never be able to get and keep good techs. That translates into exactly what Jymmiejams and Bulletboy are talking about.
