Wow - this is a total, and unexpected, blast from the past…. Glad to see the Discoweb threads from back in the day are still helping to keep these magnificent trucks in the roads!
As I recall - and it HAS been a very long time - after I sold my truck to Sven, the issue was found to be something with a distributor. I don’t recall exactly what, but I had replaced the external harness to it, and a few other components, and it would still sporadically reappear. Sven drove the truck without issue from my house in Connecticut, to his house in Pennsylvania. Was probably the best the truck had run in years. Made my wife at a time, quite upset that we sold it and he had no issues with it. Anyway, as I recall, it started doing the same thing for him after he had owned it for a little while. He has a couple of threads under his user ID that might provide some of the background. Had to do with something deep in the distributor, and once he fixed that, the truck was essentially invincible. I think there was a worn wire that was shorting out inside the distributor casing. Please let me know what you find out, I would love to know. Fun fact: there’s a very cool, off-road place near my house here in Texas now that specializes in Land Rovers. I drive by it on my way to Home Depot and Lowe’s and I have resisted pulling in, even though there are a number of Range Rover Classics in the yard.
