Bite me Steve. I'm sitting here in PGC wondering what's wrong with Bailey's Xroads. I was going to make an offer on your damn D1 until you alienated me. Looks like a drunk with a cigarette lighter could stagger by and melt your snorkel. God knows what someone tore up on Frescatinis would do to it. I think I'll order a Ledo's Pizza and reread the 'Home Defense' thread while I wait for delivery.

Now THAT there's funny! LOL!

KJ, lived in PGC forever, and now live one county south

P.S. Steve, are you going to Vermont? Buying that 11 acre place with the big-ass house?

I am going to VT- the 11 acre place with 4K sq foot house had a leaking in-ground oil tank, so I withdrew my offer. Cleanup on that place will be extensive/expensive.

Have an offer in on a larger plot of land (with fishin and snowmobile trails) and should know tonight. The house is crappy, but I'll build a new one higher up on the mountain and use the current one for guests etc. The place even comes with a fully operational Maple Syrup makin shed with all the equipment. I spent last night looking for snowmobiles and ATVs on eBay... :)

John- Does fiberglass really melt? Where's Kyle and his Zippo?

I'd prefer to leave the rack on and sell the truck as it is- but if all else fails, I'd consider selling the rack. I'll post it here if I do.
I can't believe nobody snapped up this truck. If it doesn't sell, it'll become my winter beater and I'll park the 04 when the salt comes out.

If only it were a 5-speed Steve....

Sorry the the house you were offered on had the leaking oil tank. But that's bad news and it's good you walked away. I've been in houses in VT where it contaminated the well. Nasty!

The place I have a contract on now is more interesting- it has a 200 foot incline, a spring fed pond and lots of trees (with trails in 'em). Just gotta lighten the load of stuff I gotta move and get up there.

Come on- buy the truck!

It is still for sale- I can take interior pics when I get it back. It's in for the fuel tank recall and a new fuel pump. Not sure how long they plan to keep it.
If it's not sold in the next month, it'll just become my winter beater and I'll ship it up to VT.

It has neither- it has cloth. The seats are in great shape- always had covers on them. We never get leather in our Rovers... blech...

Thread hijack...Steve how much acreage did you end up getting? Did you decide if you were going to remodel and live-in, or get that motorhome and live there?

KJ, loves real estate chat

We're still looking for a good spot to build the new house- anything from 80-140 acres, and hoping to get some river frontage etc too. Decided to wait for the right parcel instead of trying to adapt to every one that comes on the market. The house we're getting right away doesn't have a whole lot of property, but it's a private setting and we plan to extensively remodel it and turn it for a profit in 3-4 years when our NEW house is completed- which of course requires that we find the perfect property in two years. We're still looking at RV's and found one we really like- so as soon as the house in VA sells, we may pick up the RV. Whether we live in it during the remodel job or not is still up in the air. Angela likes the idea of the RV as a place for guests to stay, but we could add a HUGE addition to the house cheaper. We're still thinking of towing the Disco cross country next year and doing Alaska, Moab and a few other places.
Having the seller back out on the Disco (without even seeing it) is a major PITA, as now I have to get yet another vehicle up there. Maybe I'll take off the roof rack and just leave it in the garage in VA until that place sells. Next time someone offers to send a deposit or pay in advance, I'll do it instead of trusting that they're sincere. I'm WAY too trusting.

Steve, did your townhouse buyer back out, too? I thought that home was already sold? Just asking because I'm always interested in how long it's taking housing inventory to move. I have a realtor pal I check in with every week when I see her. She says in this county it's slowed a bit, but the houses still sell in 30 days or less and often settlements are swift.

Now, someone buy Steve's Disco so I don't feel guilty about hijacking his sale thread!

In this neighborhood, NOTHING over $500K has sold in 6 weeks. A cardboard box priced under $500K will sell in one afternoon. I think we're tapped out of buyers with good jobs.
Last person who wanted the house had too many financial problems. I'll just empty the place out and leave it on the market- and vacant homes DO sell better anyway.

Ya, it's slowed down around here a little as well.. The houses are still going for 600 plus, and the sellers are still getting more then their asking price but, instead of one to two day sales it's taking about one to two weeks for the houses to move..
