I have a 99 DII and the key fob no longer works (been thru a lot in the past two years). Well last night after classes, I locked up manually as normal and this a.m. I am unable to manually unlock the door. So I am stuck as of now since this is the only point of entry on the 99. Any suggestions, as I am all ears with our wedding coming up I have a rather busy next couple of days ahead

Yes, as I try to turn to unlock it seems obstructed, nothing wrong with the keyed portion itself. It has worked flawless since the fob died, untill this am.

the actuator might have died and most evey d2 i have seen will lock in superlock when the key is used in the door. i usually tried to disable any superlock function when i put new actuators in or messed with vehicle config.

So couldn't one somehow pop the hood open(which would require getting physical with the drivers headlight-to access the hood cable). Then push the inertia switch. I believe that will unlock the doors even if superlocked. Isn't that how the inertia switch works. If you flipped your truck over the doors unlock and the fuel pump turns off.

Just a thought. Looks like the ignition needs to be on position II and the alarm disarmed for the inertia switch to do that.

Time to break a window or get rabbid on a door handle.

So, this hasnt gone anywhere real fast (on my end) I have been able to pry the door open to sneek in a rod (yes i said rod) and push the dash switch with nada happening. This leads me to belive it is indeed superlocked....do you guys agree?

With that said, what are my options to get in... and once Im in, the vehicle will still be immobilized correct? this will be until what occures?

10 days out from our wedding, funds are tight and frustrations are elevated.

If I do get rabid on a door handle, what will that do? It will get me in, but the vehicle still immobilized correct? Can the door handle be easily drilled out to open the door? If I can get in the vehicle I have read some others have been able to remove the door panel from inside and replaced the immobilizing part (actuator)

I should just soft top my FJ40 and rock that the rest of the year while this sinks into the sand.

Anyone need some spanking new RTE Springs? May need to sell them to cover a portion of the stealership bill.

Nothing. I believe your hitting the switch has determined you are superfucked.

Whatever you do its not going to be pretty. Once you get inside and ravage the door panel. You'll need another drivers side door latch assembly. Then you can unplug the old one and plug into your new latch. Then you can unlock with a screwdriver. Then you get to get happy with your still locked door.

Man this just sucks. Why Rover only lets one way in I'll never know.

A word of thought. When unlocking with a key you only have to barely turn it like 45 degrees no need to go 90 degrees. Locking it twice gets you superlocked.

Thats what I said to LR when I asked the course of action. The meaning superlock; deterant to honest theives, synonyms;superfucked, additional synonyms; superexpensive. english meaning; not going anywhere for awhile.

I typically never superlock either, only by accident. And this time, the accident was one I wish happened months ago not 10 days out, and definetly not with my books for classes locked in the truck. Graduation in May....perhaps, if the instructors buy "my dog ate it" story.

my question now is what will the dealer do? Is there a way that they may just open the hood, disconnect the bat, hook up a rovercom and unlock the door? And once the door is unlocked replace the door lock?

I am wondering what their course of action would be, any techs input is strongly welcomed.

Sounds like the insides on your door handle are broken. I had the same thing happen to me when my key fob wasn't working. I had to by a used door handle with a lock and key, now I have a different key for the door. Once you get the door open, changing out the door handle is pretty quick and easy. As far as being superlocked, I can't help you there. Good luck and keep us updated!

smashing a window in might be the best bet, used glass is cheap, I wouldnt try to fuck with the door handle.

This won't get your anywhere if it's superlocked as the door handles are in-operable when superlocked.

I am furious that Land Rover has gone to such lengths to protect us from the rare occurrence of a theft yet we run the risk of horribly expensive repairs due to the theft-prevention steps that are taken to protect us.

I wonder that the risk of theft is less than the risk of a problem like this requiring repairs that could well exceed the value of the vehicle.

If my vehicle is stolen, my insurance company will make me whole. If something like this happens, you're fucked.
