I've loved land rovers since i was able to know that a discovery wasn't just in my pants... I'm 19 and i'm headed off to Colorado from Connecticut. I've always dreamed of driving cross-country, especially in a rover. My parents are telling me to garage it, and leave it here in CT, but i'd rather keep it and work on it in my spare time.. granted i purchase another vehicle as my daily driver. I was thinking about what to do, and i'm looking for some advice...

Go for it in the Rover. Mountians look nicer sitting up high, plus who knows what will go bad from sitting if you leave it. Pay your AAA dues and head west.

If you have the money for gas to make it to CO then I would drive it there. you'll be kicking yourself in the arse if you don't. before you leave definately make sure the trucks up for the trip and if it's not take your parents advice.

Aw Ha! I think your parents just want it!;)
I say take the Rover!:patriot:

Just make sure you check everything really good before you head out. and bring water, for you and the rover, tools, and fluids! IE Oil, brake and power stearing fluid. anyway I am sure you know all this so I will shut up now!

Be safe and have a fun trip!

And this go's without saying! Take pics!

I've driven mine from Colorado to Virginia several times w/ no problems. Rovers were MADE for Colorado. Between the NFS and BLM there are a hundreds of thousands of acres of land/trails. I say drive it or you'll be sorry when you get there and realize what you're missing:)

gas 3.40 per gallon; 2000 miles; 12 mpg = $566

Dude. Go for it. You can not buy the experience of having a rover in the mountains and desert for that.

It is all about the journey. Have fun! I will see you on the trails in the 4 corners.

You're 19, eh?

Who's paying the bills; Who will get the call from Ogalalla looking for $$?

If you're absolutely certain that the Rover's up to the trip, by all means take it.

If your folks are in charge of the finances ... aww hell, take them along too :)

I say take it. I went out west for field camp and was really taken with the amount of offroad driving there is to be done out there. A rover would be perfect out there, i wished I had my the entire time i was out there. Just go over the truck before you head out, AAA dues paid also.

yeah, i'm definately gonna take it. I cover 100% of the costs of this vehicle, and will be paying for the entire trip out there.... plus, moab is only 4 hours from where i'll be... beats the best trails here in the Northeast, theres too much development here...

Yes, but Moab doesn't have the fine quality mud the northeast or east has!

Just remember that most hotels have computers to log into, in case you do run into problems. You can get on here begging for help.
