That looks like a whopper of a black wildebeest. I'm always out hunting in the Fall, stay in touch when it gets closer.

my black wildebeast was most likely a record books beast.
we didnt follow through with registering the trophy.
a better picture than this was on display at the Safari Club Convention in Vegas i think it was 2002 last time it was in vegas.

we spoted the herd while hunting Springbok on a table top mountain in the karoo.
he was taken at 200 or better yds on a windy day.
aimed for his shoulder not compensating for wind and hit him in left rear just before hip.
he ran up side of mountain as i free shot after him.
one round grazed his face and lodged in his rt horn.
i walked up on him on top of mountain but he passed before he came at me,

Kevin N.Y.

if your following
i just found your Kudu in best day thread.very awsome.
i also went to decostas safari site.
he is selling Zim hunts very cheap.
they must be starving in Zim for hunters.
when i did Zambia plan A was to drive through Zim then the shit realy hit the fan so we opted to fly.my PH would not risk our equipment (416 merkel and 458 custom) or our lives.
decosta has some very tempting deals though.
have you ever checked out this forum www.accuratereloading.com ?

no

is it any different than a leopard shark or deer ?

sigh.

your response is entirely indicative of the mindframe that prompted my post.
you have no idea whatsoever what I was about with such a query.

for some reason you thought I was protesting the animals you have taken rather than the means and mindset.

My Fifth Impalla

i try to take an Impalla every trip to kind of symbolize every trip i make.

this one was taken on the outskirts of the Karoo.

it was a spine shot with a carbon fiber shaft and a Rocket Head
i aimed for his heart , he tried to duck the arrow , spined him.

Black Back Jackel

Jackels are every where and considered a nusance
at night spotting and scopeing is great for jackels.

after shooting this one , Hyenas came out of the bush to try and take it ,

i was hopeing to take a brown Hyena but they scattered as we approached the jackel.

My Zebra

I hunted Zebra for days, my P.H. and trackers were getting pissed.

i wanted a Zebra.
we spent most of the day tracking the herd then spooking the herd and tracking it again.
on the 5th day they were sick of chasing horses.
if you havnt chased a herd of horses on foot it aint easy.
i wanted my Zebra.
they sent a guy up in a cessna to find the herd and give us a gps location.
then i walked in with my P.H.
we came across a mommy cape buff with her baby a very very bad situation.
i was carrying a 338 win mag mod 700.my PH was carrying shooting sticks.
we literaly back tracked our tracks to get away.
my PH wispered in my ear If she charges RUN.
NO SHIT. a 338 would not be an equalizer.
it was anticlimatic she bellowed but didnt charge.
good for me.

we got back to camp late and didnt clean the zebra.
the next day we were standing around watching the skinners clean the zebra
when the skinner accidently cut the stomach.
this zebra EXPLODED guts and green shit for a twenty foot radius.

we were covered in shit , stomach grass , horse piss
my buddy dan projectile vomited for ten minutes.

i should have known something was up when i herd the zebra farting just before
they  started gutting it.

an experience to say the least.

My Gemsbuck

I tracked this Gemsbuck for 6 hours with my tracker George
when finaly in range one shot to the boiler room was not enough.
Gemsbuck are extreamly hardy animals , it took 4 more 338 win mag rounds to
bring him down.
