Dude, I change my own oil. I'm in fucking Alaska. I'm not going to change it on the side of the road....

Pussy. I did a trans fluid and filter change in the entrance to Fort Pulaski on Tybee Island, GA. Sure I felt a little bad about dropping trans fluid straight on the dirt in a National Monument but what the he'll was I supposed to do with it!?

I just looked at invoice, they didn't change fuel filter. When she brought it up, I said I didn't think they had an in line filter. She said it showed it did. Said it was same part as a GM truck. I said if it isn't in the tank, then go ahead. They never said anything about it again. I didn't think it had one bc that is something I usually change when pick up another vehicle and I remember researching it.

I've been typing while driving South to Denali. However it is pouring down raining and getting sketchy. I'll check back in later. I'm bummed I won't get to see Mt Mckinley bc of clouds...I drive 5k miles to see it and the weather sucks...oh well...the Rover is still running. So I have that going for me.

Ok, M and S Limp Mode is still coming on just about everytime I start it up and put it in reverse. I'm thinking xyz switch. The one code that it threw a few days ago was P0705-Transmission Range Sensor Circuit (PRNDL input)

Any thoughts or ideas? Is there a good "How To" thread?

Gonna try to post the schematic for you when I get home . I think you may be right about the xyz switch . You say lots of rain , maybe it's wet . Like water intrusion . I have found info on cleaning them out . But if the trucks running now and the only issue is those flashing lights , that's good . Lets not disable the truck ourselves while your so far from home

Yes, the terminals are not OEM. However the M and S came back 2 mins ago when I put it in reverse......

Sock at the pump??? I was at Jiffy lube and they said they had an in line fuel filter for it and I said go ahead and replace it. So I don't really know what was replaced. There isn't a fuel filter????

I still call it a sock from my GM days . Its just a mesh filter that sits on the bottom of the fuel pump . I dont think it would stop much, maybe gravel . But in theory it was supposed to stop water I think.

Yep that XYZ switch sounds like it's corroded inside or not adjusted. From what I've read it's only held on by a few 10mm bolts/nuts, a 13mm for the shifter linkage, and of coarse the electrical connection. It appears most people drill the 3 rivets holding it together (putting it back together with small bolt/nuts), and then use brake clean on the contacts.

I was thinking my 04 D2 XYZ switch was probably dirty inside as when I bought it and pulled the codes it listed one for the XYZ switch, but upon futher inspection my battery cable connections were very dirty and caused the lights to flicker, and the XYZ switch to fault. I was lucky and after cleaning the battery terminals and battery cables the issue hasn't returned.

I also read that some people had issues just like your describing and they loosened the mounting bolts slightly and moved it one way or the other and the issue went away (small amount of play in the mounting holes). Just something else to try if you get a chance without having to remove it.

Far north is a good shop from what I hear. You going to be on the Kenai Peninsula?

You know I didn't plan on Kenai, but so many people I've met here say I have to go. Say that Homer is an awesome place. So, if I don't burn too much time up at Far North tomorrow, I may go down there. Map on phone says it is 5 hr drive for only 215 miles covered.

You down there?

Yes I live north of Homer in Kasilof. I keep a boat in the Homer Harbor.

Never actually got to see it. That's where the trans in our van took a shit. Had it towed back to Savannah.

I stayed there for a week last summer. Everything has mold and I was sweating not stop.

The only thing that was good about that place was a store that sold nothing but alcohol filled slushies.

I was happy to get back to Colorado
