Maybe that guy has been a miserable wretch for so long, that his face is stuck in that expression.
I've met half of the people I go wheeling with that way. Met the group I belong to from an ex-member selling his truck on the side of the road. Nothing wrong with what you were doing. Now, if you were looking at a Jeep, you would need professional help. lol.
Its all about what you are into. The majority of us (dicoweb) dont find it wierd because we are all into landrovers and probably do the same thing.. If you had no interest in land rovers and saw someone looking at one like you were, you might think what they were doing is wierd because you wouldnt understand it.

I chase people down at traffic lights to give them business cards. Got most of my clients that way.
Try driving a Defender from Ohio to Kansas (my ears still hurt) and see how many folks stop you to ask about the truck!
