I started getting into surplus rifles a while ago, picked up a beautiful Swiss k-31 and one of the $80 mosin nagants. Both are very accurate, the k-31 is a little pricey to shoot. The nagant turned out to be a great shooter, looks great, and is very cheap to shoot. Anyone else into the old military stuff?

My m1 garand is army surplus. 1950's era rifle returned to the US gov't from the Greek Gov't in the late 1990's. Haven't had time to do much with it, but my friend restored the buttstock to like-new condition. I still need some trigger parts and a gunsmith to clean stuff up.

i just picked up a mosin nagant (from 1942) on June 6th (thought it was appropriate to buy an allied gun on the D-day anniv, even though it wasnt used in the battle)

i have around 60 mausers and a few mosins but i'm getting more into british sporting rifles and customs so i'll probably start getting rid of some of my more common rifles and start concentrate my collecting efforts on sporting rifles.

i haven't started inventorying them yet to see what i'm going to keep and it will be a while before i get around to it but i'll more than likely ask the market standard on most of them which varies quite a bit from manufacture to manufacture and condition. i'm keeping my swedes, gew98's, argies and most of my odd or rare rifles. i'll probably sell of most of my czech's, mod98's and a lot of spare parts.
i don't really need the money so i'm not really concerned with selling them off right away

speaking of old military rifles, anyone want to buy some obsolete 7.35x51 Italian ammo? I've got 36 rounds on stripper clips in original 1939 packaging.

Didnt someone here have a french rifle for sale. "never fired and only dropped once"
my factory mas 36 sporting rifle in 10,75x68mm will be buried with me. its very light for a dgr and thanks to the brake its easy on your shoulder. the factory sporting versions of the mas 36 are extremely rare.
even though its one ugly rifle its still not as ugly as a remington

the 10,75 is a .423 bore & it actually a german cartridge. most factory ammo is loaded with a 347 grain bullet but if you want to go heavier just use 400-450 grain bullets designed for the 404 jeffrey.
one of the guys a shoot with has a mauser sporting rifle in 10,75x68 and two more guys i know are building them right now.
a lot of the mauser rifles orignaly chambered in 10,75x68 were reamed out to 404 jeffery.

Just out of curiosity what kind of pattern can you shoot with that cannon and iron sights?

I've got some Carbines (Rock-Ola and IBM), a Springfield 1903-A4 (yes, a real A4), a coupla K98s and a really, really cool 98 with the most beautiful crest of the Shah of Iran on the ring, and a BRNO K98 converted to .308.

I much prefer the .308 to the 8 m/m, the 8 m/ms will beat you to death.

I always wanted a Persian Mauser very accurate mil surps...

This one has a bunch of Arabic writing on it that one of my sister's ex-boyfriend translated as indicating that this one was an experimental rifle for use on camel-back. The barrel is about 16-1/2" long, you would not believe the fireball that rolls out the loud end!

Post a pic that sounds like an interesting rifle, reminds me of the enfield jungle carbines but something tells me the mauser shoots a lot better.

Here is my K-31, all matching with serial matching bayonet. Please note the amazing walnut stock:

This is my 80 dollar nagant, cheap as shit to shoot and pretty accurate, very fun. Came with the bayonet ad all the other nic nacs they come with. If you dont own one, just buy one already....

Other toys that make up my meager collection... Sar-1 romanian AK, RRA lar-15, Browning bps 12g, and a moss 22 (my first rifle, still got the peep sight for it)

[QUOTEJust out of curiosity what kind of pattern can you shoot with that cannon and iron sights?][/QUOTE]

i usually shoot it from a standing rest but off hand i can keep it under about 3" at 50 and around 1 1/4" at 25 but i shoot a 4 or 5 shot group rapid fire since thats how do it at our big bore shoots.
from a standing rest with 347 grain solids taking my time i can usually keep 5 shots touching at 25 and around 1 1/4" at 50.
my 375 h&h mauser will shoot with just about anything remchester offers.
