i have yet to drive my toy conversion but......im going with the 4.10 and my "33" ssr's(33.9" actual size)......as it is right now with my 4.6 the highway drive is more than acceptable 60-75 mph no problem......the 4.10 will be just right(i hope)........both diffs have orig gears so i didnt drop any money on gears yet but if i do 35's will be there as well.

i think 4.88 would be to much for a rover on 35's with the toy conv on road

This is the exact combo I have. Seems pretty good on the road. Had to daily drive it a couple of weeks ago while I was replacing the HG's on the RR. 35in Krawlers, Toy Conv, with 4.88's. Does about 2500-2700 rpm doing 60-65mph. I got 14mpg on the 4.6

Kyle, I'm running 34'' tires with 4.43 gears, automatic and it's perfect. Was a daily driver until a month ago and I hit a moose.

4.10's are just not enough if you're running 35's.

no my bet is he had 4.88's in another truck with a 1 to 1 high range.

But since most rovers have a 1.22 high range then the stock 3.54 gears act like 4.31 gears in say a jeep and the 4.11 rovers gears act like 4.97 gears.

So adding "I had 4.88 gears" if it was in another truck is really just garbage information that does not add any value.

Now Post added he has 4.88 gears as well but we know he is running on a toy conversion with a rover LT230 so his information actually contributes to the subject of the thread.

Right. I had 4.88's with 35's on my CJ5 with a Dana 300, 1 to 1 high range. That's why I recommended going with the 4.11's on a Rover with the LT230, unless it would be mostly a trail truck, in which case the lower crawling speed might come in handy.

and this is based on what? Ever drive a Land Rover with this set-up or is this just more idle banter based on surfing the web...

4.11's on 35 will be slow, your gonna struggle on any incline to keep to auto from hunting for a gear.
4.75's may work, but then there's the ever popular strength debate

your best bet is keep the 4.11's and drop a 1.4 high gear in the tcase

and these for toy axles, not rover's

I've wheeled with D1's that had 35's and 4.10's and he has no issues with rocky terrain. I have 4.11's with 33's and our RPM's match up for the most part at around 2500 @ 65mph (not on inclines though). Neither are daily drivers. Come to think of it the 35's w/ 4.10's has a regeared tcase also which a couple of you guys have already stated would work.
