This is what bugs me. Why feel sorry for them? Why put the blame on Aaron? You know about as much about this federal case as I do. To even think for a second you know jack shit about this case is ridiculous. All you and I know for sure is this is a case about Aaron and it deals with Land Rovers. Can you say with 100% certainty that the trucks the Feds seized from Aaron's shop were illegal? Were you there? Did you see these trucks being taken? Do you have some knowledge that these trucks were really illegal? The Fed's just seized some what appear according to the Internet totally legit trucks today. Why is it possible these guys had seemingly legit trucks seized, yet the same thing could not have happened to Aaron? Is it entirely impossible that Aaron had totally legit trucks seized? Is it entirely impossible that Aaron thought what he was doing was completely legal? How is it that the buyer is the victim and the seller is automatically the criminal? How do you know Aaron is/was not the victim of some criminal activity overseas? You don't.

I know if I just got my truck seized I would not say jack shit about it. And I damn sure would not say jack shit about it over the internet. If these guys ever do get around to hiring an attorney to try and get their trucks back, the first thing their attorney is going to do is tell them not to say shit to anyone, especially the Feds. But it's too late now because some dipshit pussy wanted to tell all his friends about what happened today, throw Aaron under the bus, and then talk about how to get revenge on Aaron by suing him. This is fucking problem #1 with America today, too many fucking pussies in this world, and most of them seem to drive a Land Rover Defender.

Meanwhile, down in North Carolina, Aaron is feeling about 2" tall because of all his "friends" have disowned him. But since he's the only motherfucker with any common since he's not saying shit, and he's damn sure not going to say shit on the Internet. Not saying a word about this does not mean Aaron is guilty. It's does not mean he's not guilty, either. But before people start pointing the finger at Aaron they should probably hear the other side of the story, first. And none of us have heard the other side of the story. For all any of us know the Feds are on a witch hunt.

I agree with the points in this post.

Cheers,

Kennith

needs to be done once a conforming vehicle is imported. Once it's here, save the receipts and your go to go…if it's sitting on a galvanized frame with 300tdi coming off the boat, all bet's are off

I think I'd take pics of every step of the process as well as all the receipts. I wouldn't want a CBP agent showing up and telling me my 1983 land rover has the wrong taillights and it's really a 2010.

Has to be same model year or newer, and same class of vehicle (car/light truck, heavy duty truck, etc). You can easily swap an EFI engine in for a carbed model. It must meet the emissions for the year of the engine. Gas to diesel or diesel to gas requires additional paperwork from the DMV to comply.

So if I buy a 1967 Mustang and put in a fuel injected motor I've committed a federal crime and homeland security may come knocking on my door?

Nice deflection.

I've been on the wrong end of stupid orders. You do what you're told; but that's not the issue, here. I'll cut you off right now before you give me the "nuh-uh" response.

This is the lengthy and deliberate miring of an organization whose focus should be elsewhere, and whose mission does not include operation in response to intelligence of this nature.

That's the problem.

Cheers,

Kennith

Where else should they be? At the Mexican border? That's racist, Kenny.

No, That's a totally legal swap. In Az, 1967 and older vehicles don't need emission testing, so the DMV would probably not care.

But if you bought a 1971 mustang and put a 2004 supercharged Cobra motor in it, the law says that engine must have all the emission equipment a 2004 Ford Cobra came with. If they are real dicks, they'll make sure the emissions match what a 2004 Ford Cobra would put out, not what a 1971 Mustang with a carburetor puffs out the tailpipe.

But you still can't put a cummings diesel from a bread truck in a passenger car. Different class of vehicles according to the EPA.

Mk2's didn't have vr6's but if you go to any vag show there will be loads of vr6 swaps, 1.8t swaps etc. imported vehicles with newer engines fitted. My buddies e30 with an s54 engine is tagged in Maryland no issues.

Defenders are targeted because they stick out like a sore thumb.

Sure, take your 1983 Toy pickup which was probably made here, was type certified and crash tested for the US market and put whatever engine you want...

Well shit. I guess Aaron is guilty then. We should put him in federal prison for swapping an engine in a pick-up truck.

so we're 1 year away from the 300 tdi being an eligible swap. Will all the 25 year + 300 tdi trucks already here be granted amnesty?

I did some googling and found Dr.A's ad for a nice shiny 110 with a Puma engine in it - from circa 2011. The price asked was $49k, and the truck was sold in a week.
So, certainly, it's hard to argue that he's an ignorant backwater hack only wanting to slap a small block Chevy in an old Toyota pickup.
On the other hand, as much as I hate to be any of the guys who'd have to fight to get their rides back, I doubt they are such ignorant backwater hacks, either.
There are other things that I am curious about in this story - UK connection is one of them.

They are also taking stock original trucks that were sold to Americans by the original owner who imported it while emigrating. LHD, V8, 25+ years old. Gone.

Yes, if you gamble with these VIN swap trucks, or if you put a grey market engine in it, you may be at a dead end. But for those of us who got stock 25 year old vehicles, with records reaching back to birth, are we to understand that the 25 year old rule was merely a bait and switch?

Doesn't matter. At some point an overreaching government will touch us all.
