I figure it's plain old middle class snobbery (and insecurity). It's what happens when you rely on buying things to feel good about yourself.

There's a bit of that, but I think it's more about taste and an appreciation of aesthetics. You don't have to be wealthy to have either.

I would argue that the same guys that run shitter pipe snorkels are the same guys that would put an Aimpoint on a Holland and Holland rifle and think that is a-ok because it works. It may very well, but if one can't see what's wrong with that, then I can't help them.

That's awesome, Stu.

I rented a long JK in Kauai, and while I didn't hate it like I hated every minute in a Commander, I liked nothing about it.

This guy supposedly desires a more classy community, reliability, and comfort, so what does he buy? A Gwagen? A new Range Rover? A Grand Cherokee? No, a fucking JKU. A play toy.

I was going to buy a G500 but thought the community was a little...how do you say? Lowbrow? Gauche? Outre? Now that all these obnoxious Russian oligarchs have gotten their stinking Panama Paper fingers on these trucks it has really devalued the marque and sullied the legacy of such a storied manufacturer. Exhibits A through D:

Screw those jerks with no sense of taste or decency. I'm going straight to the real deal in offroading community:

Now I can finally settle in with my true peeps and sip Macallan 50 while smoking a Davidoff and glancing conspicuously at my Piaget watch while we discuss the future of off-roading. That's community right there.

I don't think MBUSA has ever tried to push the G as a serious or even 'lifestyle' off roader in the U.S.

My second 4x4 was a 93 sahara. I liked it.

I rented a jeep for a week. I think it was an 08 or something. 4 door X. Huge POS. Would never own a new one. Met very few "jeepers" that I would ever hang out with.

Something tells me this thread might have a future home in the Hall of Fame.

Not sure that's going to happen but at least we gave him a warm Dweb fairlywell thread. Gonna miss that jackass. Even though I never figured out who he was. I think we need to realize someday we all a bunch of scumbags, thankfully we all skipped out of school the day they talked about thinking it but not saying it. All you cheap fucks with your $2500 discos, your the damn problem.

I still deal with some really cool guys who have kept up with the Jones's and drive the new shit. $100,000 Range Rover is still the best way to tell everyone your doing better than them I suppose. Better than all us cheap fucks anyway.

I'd rather be in my disco than admit that I paid 40k for a POS JK. The logical choice for a vehicle in that price range would be a tacoma 4 door... at least for me.

I'm all for somebody driving what ever they want. Just a problem when they want that cause the class of people owning Discos is not what it used to be. What I drive isn't a statement. I commute 100 miles a day so for that I drive a Chevy Cruze eco. 46 mpg the way I drive it. When its snowing sideways and there is already 2 feet of snow on the ground I get out the Disco. It's all about what works best for me right then and there. And if Discos become the chosen vehicle for every low life food stamp troll bitch in America it will still be my choice when conditions demand a good truck.

Stew... what's a poor schmuck to do - no matter how much money I put into mine, they are still $2500 discos...

I never bought a car as an investment. They are only worth what someone will pay you. When I'm done with my 2 D2' s, they most likely will only bring part off value.
And Will is now a JeepFag.:p
Can I get a "Hey bro!"?
