Tami is on here way to FL. On the way to VA 3-weeks ago, before the bumper, she averaged 14.8MPG. She just called from SC and she's now getting 17.3MPG with the Rovertym bumper!

Maybe it's coincidences, but it would be interesting to hear what others LR3 owners get with the 6-cyl motor.

We never run below 15.2 or above 15.7 in mostly in-town driving (short trips with the wife going to work and back). I can imagine getting up to 17 on the highway, especially with a south wind at my back and level ground. Maybe the skid assembly is helping a to reduce drag a little, but I would think that would only offset the added weight of the bumper and winch, if anything at all. Getting a good tank of higher energy gas (Shell/QuickTrip) and/or less Ethanol can make a big difference. Lots of discussions about this on hybrid forums.

When wheeling your LR3, be careful not to spill your Snapple.

Last I heard it was $14k (and counting) in damage not covered by warranty.

Anybody adept at trailfixing any of the 27 onboard computers?

LOL-the answer is yes to all.

It's my understanding that a spilled drink caused a short to HVAC computer which caused the alternator to overcharge the battery, which then blew up, which then damaged other components including engine management systems.

Vehicle would not run and Land Rover would not warranty repairs. At the time I heard about it, the estimated repair was up to $14k.

Finally, after MUCH aggravation from www.rallylights.com Tami has her lights installed. Ended up getting the hook up from Expedition Exchange on the lights. Wish that would have been the first stop for the lights......but, oh well.

Install was cake. Had to hack the Hella wiring Harness a bit and for the Hella Compacts, the 4000 harness is hardly worth the 50.00 or 60.00... Basically all you need is a relay and a switch. I was under the impression the Hella harness was a really neat and clean, easy set-up; and for the 4000's it looks to be. But, for the compacts it's a waste.

Finding a spot to mount the switch was a task, too. I think the factory LR3 fog light switch would be sexy, but the Hella switch is nice, too. I think it looks OK where Tami decided she wanted it, but really there are not many convenient choices.

I'll get some more, better, shots tomorrow in the day light. But for now these will do.

Dan, are they as bright as the regular 4000s?

Honestly, I have no idea. But, I doubt it. However, I think you can replace the bulbs with something a little brighter if you wanted to. Only thing is the surface area of the light; I'm not so sure the lens could remain cool enough with a higher wattage bulb and that may/may not result in a cracked lens.....

These are the driving lights. And really, with the already super bright High Beams, they don't do a whole lot at distance. They basically give a wider and taller "fog" of light. But, when traveling a Country road or approaching some low hanging trees or buildings, the light difference is really apparent. So off-road I think these lights will be great on trails. They'll also be great for driving lights. But if you're looking for a light to blind someone 1/2 a mile away, you will not like the compacts.
