Nope, no H-1s for us. We use Excursions and or Cruisers. I just saw this one at another base and thought the emblem was cool.

Yes was just to lazy to spell out the proper term. They don't move much over here. Always parked at a check point with a local on top manning a PKM. By manning I mean sleeping.

Unless you want to go anywhere off camber. In that case the MRAP is useless. Not to mention you need a highway to have enough room for those things.

The "stand off" which gives you the blast protection is what kills it once you get off a maintained road.

Garrett as you know all of Afghanistan is off camber. Going off road here means old Soviet land mines. Hell we were warned about walking through vacant fields in the city (always find a herd of goats to follow) Yes goat herds are all over even in city of 4 million.

I like the Cruisers because they blend in with the locals so much better. Our excursions ,which are better armored than the cruiser ,stick out like a sore thumb.

I'm sure there are others on this forum that have much more experience than I do who can offer up a better opinion. I'm a relative rookie over here.

Hippo maybe? AFIRover is always talking about the hippos. the pics I've seen of them make it look like they'd go anywhere and survive anything including big mines. The South Africans don't mess around. Considering they made them independently makes them even more impressive.
