Yawn. What a bunch of useless banter. Can't believe this thread is still alive. Kinda points out the dichotomy in the US now. Whats up with all the hatred anyhow? Why don't all you haters go take a chill pill, get in your disco and take a drive down a long country road to relax a bit.

bri, its people taking pointless drives in fuel guzzling, chipmunk killing SUVs that are destroying the environment and forcing us to become the puppets of peace-loving middle eastern theocrats.

I think it is all agreed that we must stay our course. Finish what we started.

Though it was a bit bold of President Bush to claim Mission Accomplished on May 1, 2003.

With his latest speech claiming he will complete his mission I wonder what he was reffering to? It should have been Mission accomplished part I of V.

Nice picture. Are those the caskets of the September 11th victims? Or is that just political message from the left. Let's see, 2403 were killed at Pearl Harbor while roughly 2996 were killed on September 11th. The United States lost nearly 500,000 during WWII. What would your picture be for President Roosevelt? Would it be the USS Missouri with caskets stacked to the gills? OH, no picture because he was a Democrat?

Appeasement has always cost the world many more lives. That picture speaks for the appeasers who never have to answer to the families killed by our enemies.

The banner belonged to the vessel, do a lexus-nexus. Did it provide a great backdrop? Yes. There is no blame for the Navy, the mission of the vessel was accomplished, they were going home after supporting the invasion. Of course it was a highly calculated and orchestrated event, so what? What is inherantly wrong about that? By the way, the ship most likely made the banner in it's print shop or bought it pre-cruise, what about that is so hard to believe?

If this is the worst thing that your side can find wrong with Dubya's presidency, then you are pissing up a rope............It was a plug for OUR side, America.

Here you say my side... I voted for him. I'm an American. Do I think our Government should be questioned or the sheeple should follow blindly? Always question authority.

Why do people keep comparing 9-11 and the war in Iraq to Pearl Harbor and WWII? When Pearl Harbor was attacked, we declared war on Japan (the country that attacked us) and no one else. I don't see the connection to Iraq. Saudi Arabia maybe, since most of the attackers were from there and educated in extremist Mosques there, but Iraq?
We didn't even declare war on Germany, Japan's ally.

Who is paying the bills?

PR Machine Behind Cindy Sheehan?ABC7 Looks At The Financing Of 'Camp Casey'

With the President back at his Crawford ranch, the anti-war protest right outside his ranch is getting a lot more media attention. ABC7 looks at who is financing the operation and who's providing on-the-ground support.

The camp at Crawford is full of Cindy Sheehan supporters, people from all walks of life. But off to the side are a small group of professionals, skilled in politics and public relations who are marketing her message.

Cindy Sheehan kneels before a cross with her son's name on it, touches his picture, wipes her tears. It's an outpouring of emotion that is part of a scheduled news event organized daily for the television radio and print reporters who crowd in to capture a mother's grief.

Cindy Sheehan: "And I'm never going to see him again, I'm never going to hold him again, I'm never going to hear his voice again."

Sheehan's message hasn't changed since she got here but the support staff interested in getting that message out to the world has grown considerably.

Organizers are set up in this house trailer. Their meetings are closed to reporters.

Leading the group is Fenton Communications employee Michele Mulkey, based in San Francisco. Fenton specializes in public relations for liberal non profits.

Their bills are being paid by True Majority, a non-profit set up by Ben Cohen, of Ben and Jerry's ice cream fame.

Ben Cohen: "People are willing to listen to her and we want to do as much as we can to make her voice heard."

Cohen's liberal group has teamed up with Berkeley-based moveon.org, an anti-Bush group co-founded by Joan Blades.

Earlier this month, MoveOn.org helped organize anti-war vigils in support of Cindy Sheehan. Current Democratic National Party chair Howard Dean's organization, Democracy for America, is also involved. As is the more radical anti-war group Code Pink, organized by San Francisco's Medea Benjamin.

Money donated through these groups and others is helping to pay for Gold Star families whose children have been killed in Iraq to attend anti-Bush protests.

This week, Simi Valley, California Gold Star wife Melanie House flew to Idaho for a protest and then flew to Crawford.

Reporter: "Can you tell us if you're getting help in airfare to come down here?"

Melanie House: "What difference does that make?"

There is real reluctance to talk about whose paying. And the PR machine that's promoting Cindy Sheehan. But not everyone here is completely comfortable with it.

Gold Star mother Karen Meredith went to Crawford from Mt. View. Her son Ken Ballard died last year.

Karen Meredith: "Sometimes things don't feel quite right to me. They don't feel wrong but maybe that's how they do it in the marketing business."

ABC7's Mark Matthew: "You feel you're part of a marketing business?"

Karen Meredith: "Possibly. Yeah I think so."

What is your point Jake?

That people should not be fooled into thinking that she is a grass roots show. This is a carefully ochestrated propaganda act paid for and planned by the extreme left.

So the "extreme left", planned to have her son killed? That IS carefully orchestrated.

It could very well have started with grassroots and moved mainstream, but is that not how all grassroots movements get momentum? But to just post something quoted and then bail pretty much proves (to me at least) that the intention of your post is to categorize this issue into the left so that you can easily argue your own agenda. The same reason why you started the thread. Its bait yet again.

Our presidency is a carefully orchestrated propoganda machine for the extreme right.

Who gives a shit whether they are right or left, regardless of her political agenda, she has a right to ask the questions that she is and there are many, many people that disagree with the way that we have handled Iraq and these people also cross many political boundaries. Have you seen Bushes approval levels lately on the war? Its not just the left that disagree with much that is going on over there.

Hey, I'm just happy that she's over there in Texas.. At least her and all her fellow protestors aren't screwing up the traffic in D.C. like all the other protestors around here do..

I wonder, did she try working her way up the chain? You know, ask her son's recruiter why he let her son join up ? Maybe his comanding officer and so on and so on???

Nearly everything in human history starts with one person's thought and either flourishes or perishes. The opposition to this war has existed since before any "action" took place. Now it's beginning to crystalize, in part because Cindy Sheehan put a name and a face on the issues. She bore her son, raised him and lost him. She has a right to say anything about that she likes and only she has the priviledge to say what honors him and what doesn't. Frankly, I've been appalled at some of the comments made about this mother and her situation. I would be equally appalled at any bashing of a mother who lost her child who thought this war was just and honorable. Who is ANYBODY except the families greiving to say what honors their lost loved ones and what does not?

If she wants to keep putting herself out in the public eye then she's is going to get the public comments both in her favor and not in her favor..

And to say that the right, far right and extreme right don't carefully orchestrate and pay for propaganda to their benefit is being blind.

It's about time the Dems started using Rebublican tactics and getting dirty.

now THAT is funny

Republican's are mere children in comparison to the left when it comes to propaganda

I don't recall any Republican's making movies, for national distribution, attacking (under false pretense) a sitting Democratic president,,,

No offence but, both parties have been getting down and dirty long before you and I were born. It's not like this is anything new on the right or left side. As long as there has been a politican there's been a knife in someone's back or a hand in someone's pocket.
