i know snakes can swim, but how do they get into the plumbing?

Through the plumbers crack of course!

They can get in through a cracked pipe, the cleanout, ect.ect. Don't forget that plumbing is made to drain water and doesn't store water except for the drain traps. Its a short swim for a snake to get through the s-trap on a toilet.

On my first visit to White Oak Canyon (AKA "copperhead canyon") in the Shenandoah National Park, we were hiking up from the trailhead at the bottom when we heard sporadic pistol fire close by the trail. We walked over to investigate and found lil ol' granny - she looked to be 85+ - sitting on the back porch shelling beans...and snakes. She invited us over. In the middle of a sentence, she would calmly put down her basket of beans, pick up her six-shooter and plug another one. We were impressed. She had a keen eye and was a *very* good shot. Needless to say, we were very careful about where we placed hands and feet for the rest of the trip....

Cheers

No.... snakes don't come *up* the plumbing. They breathe air, they can't stay under *that* long. They can come in via some other route, then find refuge and water in a toilet, but it didn't come *in* that way.

Having survived the bite of a black widow spider, I don't give anything with venom a chance. It comes into MY territory and it's dead.

Seriously, buy some wasp spray. It is VERY helpful. It will incapacitate anything long enough for you to kill it easily.

BTW, somewhere recently I saw some snake trap boxes. Online, I think. You put the box down and the snake goes into it and dies. I will try to figure out where I saw that.

Cheers,

Thanks Mike...

Yep, I am a girl... a VERY girly girl.

Sadly, my truck is named The Warthog (which is not very girly).

However, it has lots of pink accents on it... so, that makes everything balance out. :)

That's okay that you didn't know. I kind of come and go on Dweb. I've been around here for a very long time. I just disappear occassionally when I get tired of the arguing or my schedule is too demanding. But... I always come back.

Very easy to be a girly girl, have a rover, and offroad. Mine is balanced out with my daughter's leopard print carseat and my leopard print longhorn in the front!
