i have had nothing but problems with milwaukee tools the batteries take a shit non stop, they repace them for free but what a hassle. the trgger buttons on all the tools wear out often i have had all my tools worked on at least twice each. the bearings on the impactor are bad for the second time now. the sawzall doesn't work anymore. i use these tools part time to remodel my house on weekends. stick with another brand the only thing good about them is the price

PT, the beauty of it is there isn't a hose attached to it.

Rovindal, but how is the warranty work out, I notices that it say 5 yrs warranty on the box. One thing I see is that, they must had been rushing the product out of the factory pretty quick. The QC guy must be testing it before the paint is dry, I see some black rubber paint being rubbed to the red area where you place your thumb and also on the trigger area. The salesman took out another 2, same.

Batteries have a lifetime warranty. They recently changed something with their batteries supposed to be better? But it only lasted me 2 months before it was dead. The repairs were free. The only problem is the place where I bought the tools does the warranty work. I don't know why but they had an impactor and sawsall for 5 weeks before I got them back. Pain in the ass. For the money they are good. Just wouldn't buy them to use every day. I could just have a bad set but everyone I ask seems to have the same problems. Now i buy all Hilti. It breaks take it back you get a new one. No repairs. I told Hilti that a 180$ grinder wheel didnt last as long as I thought it would have. They just gave me another. Hilti is like apple. The best customer service ever. Makes up for the high prices

I bought the Snap-On 3/8" impact yesterday. Test-drove it for a week and was hooked bad.

So bad that next week, I'm getting the 1/4" one as well.

I never thought I'd like them as much as I do.
Just asking: can't you get a 3/8 to 1/4 adapter, or are you looking for the lower torque?

BTW: I have a Porter Cable 1/2 cordless drill that I bought 12 years ago. However the batteries (2) lasted about 8 years (before fast discharge/dying). I had them rebuilt at BatteriesPlus and bought a new charger, but still only get ~ 2 hours out of each battery.

I've also heard PC has gone done in quality in the last few years, but YMMV

Dewalt cordless is the choice of most people who make their living with them, and use daily. The batteries can pull a load,( no pun intended). Milwalkee tools have piss poor mexican made trigger switch's that when used on a daily basis, wear out often, and are not cheap to replace. The other brands sold at Lowes are built for harry homeowner and wont hold up on dailly abuse. Keep a Dewalt cordless sawzaw in your rig when in the woods, its smaller then a chainsaw and comes in handy.
Of all the brands out there, Dewalt was the only company to actually give there tools out to tradesman for daily abuse, then take them back for testing and future improvement, then give them back for more abuse and testing.
I could not give a rats ass what brand you buy, and I also could give a rats ass about any large company, but when looking into a heafty purchase like real cordless tools, just go out to any constuction site and see what the pros use.
