horse shit smells good! don't equate it to cow shit. night/day

I had a lab that thought so. We'd be walking and he'd find a pile of road apples and chow down. I'd hollar and pull him off, and he got wise. He'd drag his chin as he walked past the next pile and scoop 'em up without stopping.

Horses - fact is, I'm jealous. I'd take a horse over a dirt bike.
Horse has personality
Dirtbike too loud.

calf poop is a favorite of dogs. it's got lots of milk in it and apparently is quite yummy. horse poop is far too dry and more like a granola bar for my liking. horse poo is easy to clean up after too.

yeh boarding fees (stall board) can be a bit harsh, but we've always been lucky and not had to deal with that. it can get pretty steep especially if you are paying for full board. feed, turn out, etc, etc.

certainly alot cheaper than a rover.

My horse is probably the cheapest animal to own EVER.

Board=free
Water=free
Hay=$40 for 10 bales that lasted all winter
Grass=free
Supplements=$40 every other month
Farrier=$25 every 6 weeks in the spring/summer and fall. Every 8 weeks in the winter (he's barefoot)

I bought a new blanket last year that was about $150 and a new fly sheet that was $50. I buy apples, carrots and treats each month and that is about it. The accoutrements are the fun stuff to spend money on...grooming tools, tack, etc.

horses are obsolete. good for dogfood and glue. Why is it smart to operate something that has a mind of its own? No brakes or accelerator! all that being said I prefer to ride the old one with arthritis.

Sounds like you just described the horse you ride. A good horse DOES have brakes and an accelerator...and all kinds of fun, fancy footwork. My wife turned me into a horse lover...now I'm trying to do the same to her with Rovers. We'll see.

you can always buy a Rainnbow Bright or a My Pretty Pony Walter. they are pretty easy to tend to. and you can smack them around when they get lippy and you won't ge in trouble with the SPCA.
It's your brains I love you for Garrett! I'm going to Walmart now to get one!

Ditto that. I've ridden horses that had too much forward throttle and not enough braking before and I'll never go back! ;)

My husband and I are already Rover nuts, now I'm trying to turn him into a horse lover!

My pretty ponies were an early introduction, a county style pony.

My little ponies, the ones with the TV show, stupid song, glitter hair, the pegasus and unicorn knockoffs and all that other happy meal shit, those came a little later from hasbro.

Well, I'm a child of the 80s, so the LITTLE ponies are the only ones I knew.

For me, it was always Breyer Horses.
