Does anyone know where I can find a detailed write up (w/ pictures) for replacing the head gasket on a 1996 D1?

I have the Rave CD however, I find that a write up with picture by picture steps helps a lot in anticipating problems.

I've search the tech forums on several LR websites however I haven't found a good write up yet.

As far as my skill level, I generally do my own maintenance and minor repairs that do not require specialized tools. Will replacing the head gasket be something a novice do-it-yourselfer can tackle?

It is fairly straight forward just a lot of stuff to get off and then back on that needs to be done properly and there is an order that makes the most sense.

Where are you located? The best thing is to watch one then do the next one but you can probably get through it with a few must do's and look out for's.

PM me if you want more info. I could probably write something up for you w/o pictures if motivated.

yes.
The results are likely to be predictable, too.

With a good deal of luck you'll take things apart, clean them up, reassemble, and everything will work just right.

But you are just as likely to drop the head on some piece of steel and nick the sealing surface.
