Hello Everyone,
Thanks robby for creating this post as I am having the same exact issue. Drive the car last week without any issues and this week upon trying to starting I get absolutely nothing, no crank, no click, no sound. The only sound I get it the sound of some relay in the passenger footwell. The battery is solid and fully charged and kept on a CTEK trickle charger when not driven.
After reading everything my next step is to disconnect the UltraGauge and the OBDII dongle that I have had connected to the truck for awhile without any issues. Next I will clean all grounds and wires from the battery and starter.
[Q] What size wire gauge did you go with?
Looking forward to hearing how you resolve this as it may shine some much needed light my way.
Thanks
Hi Toran,
I hope yours was as easy as mine. I originally was having issues with the solenoid on my starter. This, along with bad grounds and dirty power cables/terminals didnt allow for a good connection.
What I ended up doing was:
1 - Got new starter (i hear you can fix the solenoid/brushs but i dont know how)
2 - Cleaned all the grounding contacts as well as the power cable/terminals with a wire brush. I had originally replaced the power cable with a 48" 4 gauge one but that ended up being an issue since i didnt put the heat sheild back on and the cable rested on the exhaust manifold and i ended up burning the cable. I have since cleaned off the old one that has the shielding already on it and also put the heat sheild back on and its starts without issue.
Onto your issue.
If youre not hearing the starter solenoid engage (listen to the video file above), check the following:
that the starter relay is clicking in the passenger foot well when you turn to position 2 (start engine). (

that the check engine light is on (if its not, this might be a sign your engine is immobilized by the security system)
that you have tried shifting to neutral and trying again
that your lights/accessories arent draining a lot of power (battery is bad)
have battery tested at your local auto shop if you cant at home
If you hear it engage under the truck but nothing else also make sure all of the accessories and harmonic balancer move freely. This should take some strength but should move with a wrench. I tried by using a large wrench on the fan clutch. This is to make sure the engine isnt locked up. if it doesnt move, the starter wont be able to turn anything.
I hope this helps. This was my
