I considered spraying a bed liner material before painting, but for my taste there is plenty texture with just the fiberglass.

This is a great idea! My '99 is starting to show some sagging in several spots. I think i'll be going this route in the near future.

I have no headliner in mine right now just bare metal. I don't notice any change in noise level, but i sure feels colder in there with it out.

My D2 was much louder without the headliner and much HOTTER since I had it out during the summer.

Looking to paint mine. I'm liking the contrasting looks of the black ones that people have posted. Does this not get hotter than the lighter colours?

Zombie thread.

The headliner in the wife's '96 D1 was done and I had a line on a Line-Xed replacement for free. I have not noticed any difference in comfort between the black headliner and the beige.

I'm about to paint the headliner in my '01 D2 and am considering just using rattle can black. I may use a flat tan or beige if I can find some at Home Depot.

I did mine with black bed liner because I had it laying around and since it is the trail/camping/fishing truck I wasn't to concerned with looks. It has held up well in the 2 years since I did it. I don't notice any extra noise as the truck is noisy anyway and no increase in heat.
