D90 Brakes, what's the deal?

So about 6 months ago I upgraded my D1 to D90 brakes. Only been out wheeling with them twice since. :(
The first time the vents on the rotors were packed full of mud. I had to pull the wheel and jam a screwdriver through each vent to clear it out. Big PITA.
The second time the slots/holes on the faces of the rotors were packed full of mud, and it appears it is effecting the way the pads contact them.

So what is the deal with these fancy rotors? Does everybody experience this? How do you deal with it? At this point I'm regretting selling my D110 calipers. :banghead:

i believe the d90 calipers just provided more braking power(?). personally i dont find myself doing any high speed braking maneuvers when i off road.

Only thing about the d90 upgrade vs 110 upgrade is vented rotors which help possibly with long high speed braking like mountain driving etc. and people will argue this too.

The 110 upgrade is great as you get the bigger pad area and better braking force but retain a solid rotor that can't clog up off road. Not that it's normally that huge an issue offroad. But as you found it can happen.

Drilled and slotted are great for bling bling effect and arguably possibly for a track car - but a rover. No. Just no. Ha ha

On the bright side, I am extremely grateful that you sold your D110 calipers.

Bummer about the crud in the rotors. Are you at least noticing any improvements on the pavement?

Yeah, I know all about the 110/90 differences.
I'll probably just try to find regular D90 rotors next time(no drilled/slotted).
I was just curious if others running the D90 gear experienced similar issues.

Just take it to the car wash and spray off the rotors and hit the highway. You're talking about dirt getting trapped in the VENTED part of the rotor right not the crossdrilled spots? I dont care about dirt blocking the drilled holes in the rotor thats not the end of the world. The way I see it, dirt trapped in rotor makes it a solid rotor, why change it? hahaha

I run wheels spacers and drilled slotted (Justin type) rotors and haven't had an issue for years now I am not a mudder but its been wet a couple of times
Yeah, I'm not a mudder either, but occasionally I have no choice. :D
