I just replaced my pads, and I'm needing to replace my rotors after a 116K miles, cause my brakes are not much better than before. I've found some on Atlantic British, but my question is are the drilled/slotted better? Worth the extra $$? Any suggestions?

Be careful if you go with the EBC rotors. Mine warped within months and I have read reports that others have done the same. I will not be using them again.

I've always read the slotted/drilled rotors chew up pads quicker, but work well since they disperse brake heat better.

they also pick up trail crud like sand and dirt too... not good for trucks going offroad.

I went with the dimpled/slotted rotors by EBC and I wont make that mistake again. The slots give off a wooshing sound when they pass through the pad area, even when not depressed. Fades with use but annoying as all heck. Plus the slots act as rough spots when not aligned across the axle (which may be hard to do) so it feels like an alternating grabbing from side to side during various braking situations. Best bet if you can find rotors with a tight cross drilled pattern like you would see on Porsche rotors. That is what I will try to find next time.

Look, read up on brake rotors -

General statements: Slotted helps with degassing (which is brake fade), but drilled helps with cooling (not so much on degassing, but it does help). Best bang for your buck is slotted, but not drilled (drilled rotors are somewhat more brittle, YMMV). For 4X4, prob best is at least slotted. Drilled is prob marginally better, you decided. Mucho debate on slotted/ vs drilled /vs both vs one or the other....

At any rate, slotted is better than stock, and drilled/slotted is better that slotted only. Search on pads; lots of info on them (DBC is prob best $/bang).

His user name is 'will tillery' and his contact info is in his profile and signature. He's not chatty on the phone but the prices are good and the parts arrive fast.
