I had no intention of being insulting. I thought my assessment was reasonable; if not, I apologize.

I can purchase them from Rovertym for not much more than that... if a fellow rover driver could benefit from my purchase and do something he enjoys (both were assumptions), I would rather keep the cash local.

offer retracted.

No insult taken but I agree with Marc 100%. Once you build a set you realize just how hard it would be to make any profit.

Marc is right, not even including the materials you'd be 250-300 just for powder coating, and rolling.

the only reason mine were so cheap is the kid that rolled mine was feeling happy or something because instead of paying him he asked me to bring him 2 cases of SODA??

Yea, he asked for a case of orange soda and Dr. Pepper. I threw in a big box of single pack chips for good measure...:victory:

Marc, pm cleared:rolleyes:

they are a bit more work than most people think.
not insulted, not at all, but consider this.

you offer a group buy,
now he gets burried in work that he's not making much money on,
and on top of that , everyone gets bummed cause it's taking longer than the expect.

if you wanted to help out a local guy, you would have said something like,
"hey, Ben, if you have time, make me some and let me know what you need in exchange"
not "hey lets group buy, so i can get them cheaper Rovertym"
that sounds more self-serving than supportive.
now i'm paraphrasing your comments, yes, but you know what i mean.
i'm not trying to bust your balls, just know they are a bit involved.

Dude, in saying "group buy," I should think he would be flattered; that would at very least imply that I liked what he did, at most suggest others may as well.

Also, I dont know what kind of people you have encountered online in the past, but when I feel like someone is doing something out of their arena in an effort for my benefit (IE making custom rock sliders to save me a few bucks), I certainly place no time limits on the work; I consider it more of a favor, despite the fact that money will change hands.

I fully realize the time and effort; that is why I dont want to make my own. If he had notes (plans) and had a supplier for parts, half the work is already done. My thinking is simply to offer him a return on the legwork he had to do for his own set. He doesnt have to find a supplier, he doesnt have to design or re-design anymore. Since the product is mature, now is the time to realize some return.

If that is not his cup of tea, he is welcome to simply reply with "no way, dude... too much work" and I will never bug him about it. This only works (in my opinion) if it is mutually beneficial. Its certainly not worth creating a rift between fellow DiscoWeb members!
