Eric, I remember when you first bought the truck. You've put a ton of work into it and have shared many of your experiences and expertise gained along the way.

Look at it this way, if this one is totaled, the next will be soooo much easier...and better.

I hope it works out.

You do nice work Eric. Ihope this all works out for ya. Play it by ear as to what you can get away with. He did this to the both of you even though the law says your wrong , I think its worth fighting over. Even just to make sure he has to fucking wait. That old piece of shit probably only has liability on it. So His insurance company wont help him come after you if thats the case.

That looks very familiar. I rear ended a pickup truck in my '96 back in 2004. Insurance totaled it but I bought it back from insurance for about $2K. Pretty much the same damage from the bull bar except the driver's side headlight and fender weren't touched. My passenger door was out of alignment just like yours but I was able to get it back in line...adjusted the hinges and literally hung on the open door until it went back into place. I bought a salvaged hood, passenger fender, headlight, amber light, and stock bumper. Had the radiator repaired. Used a come-along and my neighbor's pickup truck to pull the front clip back into shape. Then it sat in my garage for 4 years and I sold it in 2008 and picked up my 2004.

That sucks, but the bumper held up pretty well, and probably saved the truck. It might be totaled as a result, but you can total a Rover with a hammer and a tail light...

That said, here's a tip:

Never lay on the horn unless you want someone to stop. That's an immediate reaction for most people. They hear the warning and just hit the brakes.

Cheers,

Kennith

Yup, you got to blow your horn to show your displeasure. Worth it?

Why be a dick? Dude just lost his baby, you think he needs a bunch of Monday Morning QB assholes rubbing salt into his wounds? Some of you are just assholes...

FYI: Illinois law on removing balls or receivers did not reach final pass. Stopped in the process. Some were issued tickets as the law officers jumped the gun. Rest easy Illinois, no such law. I carry a copy of the process in my vehicle just in case of a money grab.

Because blowing your horn such as that never solves anything. Dude already cut him off, that act was done. Leaning on the horn did nothing to help the situation and everything to exacerbate it.
If he didn't blow his horn it's possible his baby wouldn't be wrecked now. Let's hope lessons are learned from this.
I'll use my horn rarely if I need to get someone's attention but other than that I just use my middle finger.:smilelol:
