Got my license a while back, never got a better radio, but been looking at some Yaesus recently.

It's pretty amazing to be able to talk truck to truck over heavily populated areas -- at 10 miles distance -- and get wonderful reception so that no words are missed.
I've also used it in caravan where the guys with walkies or CB's couldn't get reception, but the guys at the ends of the column could talk easily.
The last time I used mine I was out in the woods by myself, out of cell range, and I was able to talk to someone via relay from about 45 miles away.

A bit spendy though, esp. considering accessories. It does come with the YSK-857 separation kit, which is nice for space conservation. You can mount the front face separately from the main body of it.

That's it, I'm letting my license lapse now.
