There's upholstery, and then there's stripping down and upholstering one of
these and keeping it intact on the way back in.
It's a pain in the ass. Most upholstery shops butcher the job, and most private owners butcher the job. I'll be painting mine or something when I'm done with the new console up there. There are many options. I've saved every picture that I've seen posted here and noted what was done, just in case I decide to try a particular method.
These would have been better at two-piece units. That's the way I would have done it.
One of the problems is you have to install it at the same location it's been repaired. It's too big to go hauling around elsewhere unless you've got a large van. Trailers and pickups are a no-go, even if you cover it.
As for this thread, I think the camo is ugly, but
I'm not driving it, and it's not a performance, safety, or exterior aesthetic issue. That being the case, it's just a matter of fucking around on the weekend and doing something fun. Ugly, but fun.
