Front seats in all D1 years the same build?

Hi - I may have the option of getting some better-condition front seats from a D1 that is being parted out a little. I don't know what year yet, except that it's a D1 and is not the same year as mine, which is a '96.

Does anyone know for sure whether different D1 year seats will look the same as each other, provided they're both tan leather?

Thanks.

The seats on my 98 are different from those on a 96. Mine have adjustable headrests, I think some of the older ones had a fixed plastic frame headrest. Beyond that, I'm not sure if there are any differences. The trim level of the vehicle might be a factor. If you have a 96 with manual seat controls then putting in seats from a model with electric controls could be a challenge.

no.
94-95 are different from later D1 - they won't even mount to the same points.
Late 95-96 are different from later D1 - they will bolt in, but the design is different.
The seat bottom and back are better, headrests tilt and can be removed, but they lost these vertical grab handles that rear passengers often find ... handy.
I found manual seats from 97-on to be rather a rarity.

Thanks... Looks like it has the same metal-y posts for headrests... headrests removable? Theirs is gnarly and mine is OK.

you sure about that? I've had my 95 and 97 seats out to repair the suspension webbing and the removal and install procedure was identical, didn't notice any different parts other than cloth vs pleather.

Later 95 used the same seats as 96.
I had to pass on a perfect set of early 95 seats because it was less work to re-do the seat bottoms on my seats than to fit the earlier ones.

did not know that. I do know a YJ seat almost bolts up to the sliders. I used one for a while when I was fixing the seat.

Peter has it right. 94- early 95 are much narrower. Late 95-99 all bolt up though there are a few different styles.

Robert,
What did you use to repair the seat bottom webbing with? I have one that is starting to tear and wasn't sure what to try to use to replace it.
