You beat me to it! I will probably get mine on this weekend. Did you end up doing black side walls out or the red letters?

She's still a bit stripped, but here's the DII:

Honestly, guys. Do you think I'd mount these tires and not play around with the red letters?

At first, I mounted them this way because someone wondered how long it would take for all the guys with big diesels around here to buy them, now that a set is rolling around town.:D

Now that I've done it, though... I think I might actually like the look.

Cheers,

Kennith

Those look cool with the red lettering out on your truck, and may look good on a black truck but, some trucks might not take it so well. I like the way the tires look altogether. You must have a 3" lift.

I like it. I am trying to convince Cvc I need black wheels.

Love them.. You did good.. Can you tell us how much lift and and what type Kennith ??

It depends.

In that shot you're seeing OME 2779s in the front and 2762s in the rear with the front sway bar installed.

I dig the 762s, but those 779s aren't controlling the front as well as I'd like. They can't cope with the batteries installed up front (one of which I pulled to compensate), as well as that heavy bar and winch. I'm going to get a different front pair for that set.

They give some pretty sharp, but controlled cornering overall. I just need more meat up front until I get the junk back in the trunk where it belongs.

If I go too crazy with the suspension, I won't be able to easily rig things outdoors when something goes wrong. I've almost tried some wilder stuff a few times, but practicality on longer drives stopped me.

The plastic sill things are back on there, and the tires bite them a bit when turning the wheel. Keep that in mind if you are interested in this wheel/tire combo, and don't have sliders that are cut back a bit.

It's annoying at the moment, but harmless. I'll just shave them for now. Sliders sort that out properly. I've been dicking around with some neat ideas in that regard.

On the 2" RTE springs, I don't think the tires will rub at all, but I wanted to try these with the OMEs first, as that's what I was using with the Goodyears. I'll put the RTEs on when I take it to Uwharrie to see what these tires will do in that environment.

I've been starting from scratch again on this. I brought it as close to stock as I could manage at this point so I could re-think the entire vehicle from a more experienced position.

It's tough doing that. I kept all the bits over the years, but damn... I'm always digging around, searching for one small piece or another. At this point, it's as far as I'm willing to go.

It's stock enough to do what I want.

And how about PINK letters on your tires?

Give them a few years and they may indeed be pink, if they are still there at all.

General did something really cool here, but people need to realize that there's a reason racing tires were the only ones with fancy letters in the past. They didn't have to last long.

The fact that these stay on at all is amazing.

I don't think it's just a marketing gimmick. I believe they genuinely wanted to provide something interesting to enthusiasts. Red letters are pretty fucking neat.

I've got about 200 miles on them now. When I hit 500 I'll begin to really pay attention to them.

I do intend to contact you about those parts this week.

Cheers,

Kennith
