I bet if you were shooting at a hostage target at the range with a handgun 100% of your shots do not hit your target.

I bet you're wrong.

I found a video of Brian on the Internet. Actually it's not Brian, but Brian did teach this guy how to shoot.

It amazes me that you guy's aren't listening to wargasm…his tactiool knowledge dwarfs that of those who have actually been trained

You're so full of shit.

Regardless of that, again, at least I'd be alive. I could be shipped off in a casket. Personally, I'd pick prison over a casket, but that's just me. In prison you have hope. Not so much in a casket.

It scares the shit out of me that people like you own guns. Point and shoot with no regards to collateral damage just because you can? And I'm full of shit? Are you seriously arguing this?

Your point is mute and your mind is warped.

Brian should give these cops lessons on how to shoot. Obviously they've never been trained, at least not like Brian has. They probably never practice like Brian does, either.

I wonder of they checked to see what was in the background before they starting firing? I'm sure they did because that's what training is for.

Just got back to the office. Work called and I had to do some work. In the process of doing my work two officers were on scene. We had some down time while waiting on the medical examiner, so I asked them what the preferred weapon of choice was for home defense. Both at the same time said shotgun. Wish I could have had it recorded.

Sure. Maybe if you were shooting at a possum in the yard at night. But come on. Just turn on the light switch. Unless you live in a home that's old as fuck, there is a light switch at every entry door into a room. Pretty sure that's been the building code for years and years and years.

Not an invalid point; one could just clear the house by going room to room turning on lights. Assuming we're talking with a shotgun here you are then turning on lights with one hand on your shotgun, the other on the switch as you go room to room illuminating yourself along with everything else with bad weapons retention and poor capacity to engage.

Of course most of the people we're talking about already are a shit show when it comes to this because like most amateurs they go to the range and do bullshit static shooting till they are happy with the holes in the target or until the beer runs out. Nevermind when its really a life and death situation the adage that amateurs do it till they get it right, professionals do it till they don't get it wrong comes into play so for most the point is moot anyway.

That said, I build my pistols to be indoor or outdoor-so the light could be used for that possum too. Likewise it's a CCW option, so it has to be setup for anywhere it is carried, and I still would contend the light is invaluable for that half of the day that is dark.

Ironically if we want to argue frivolous things on a pistol I'd take a rail and a surefire over night sights any day.

So you're not home. Your wife is. There are two guns laying within reach, a Glock with a light and a shotgun loaded with buckshot. Which gun does your wife reach for?

I guess Dan did derail the thread with the rail on a pistol comment, and I didn't help matters, either.

Nonetheless... you guys with the military background know - or should know - that ROE/RUF in a theater are vastly different from a tangle of things that pass for ROE/RUF state-side. They differ state-to-state, and city-to-city. However hideous it may sound, in some places it is "better" to kill than to wound/incapacitate an intruder, in the others - not. There isn't a single weapon or set of accessories that's universally better than the others. In this sense, the guys/gals with CCW permits are more educated in their options than people without those, regardless of their military training or lack of it.

Returning to the original thread Q - it is like "Jeep vs Land Rover" on a general 4x4 BBS. A Grand Cherokee or a Land Cruiser may be a better vehicle overall than a beat-up Discovery, but I like the latter and don't like the former two. I already forgot who mentioned it in this thread - use what fits in your hand better.

Yeah, I mentioned that. The original question came down to having something to carry around in the woods.

Doesn't much matter, in the end. A Glock is fine, and so is a Sig.

Cheers,

Glock, aside from the fact that I don't own a shotgun and she would be more likely to pickup the 10.5" barreled AR between a shotgun and a pistol she would go with what is controllable for her frame-a shotgun isn't that.

Oh, and for the purposes of the thread-I reiterate Glock vice Sig, with a rail!
