I priced 265/75/16 maxxis buckshots in Louisville KY for 600 for 5 mounted and balanced and he was going to knock off some for buying my old tires.

The problem is so many of these tires are only available regionally. Once I have to pay to ship Maxxis Tires to Ohio, they are no longer "cheap." Same with Hercules Tires.

Sift through, see what you can get in your area, but I do agree, the money you save short term, more often than not you'll lose in the long term...

ebay one does free shipping. I bought four maxxis bighorns 32x11.5x15 for less than $600 shipped when I bought mine.
four 285/75/16 are $625 shipped. email them and tell them you want 5 instead of 4... who knows you may get it for less than $800 shipped for all 5. I'm not trying to start any drama, I thought they were great tires for the price.

are those high tech retreads legit??

I say yes, I've had a set of 265/75/16 lasted over two years.

I then bought a set of 285/75/16 and love them.

No problems, and I know of no one else on this site that has knocked them.

I was wondering the same - poked around on their site some.

I've read several threads here in the past and some people swear by them. I guess the green shit in them is pretty nifty.

For a cheap bastard tire, they can't be beat.

I may try them out....I switch my tires when I go offroad, so they may work fine.

I like the re-treads but they do not have them in a 255-85-16 :(

I am on the fence with my new tire selection as well.... studded snows need to come off soon - of course my truck is still warm and dry in the shop as it's been for months now.:banghead: :D

I will most likely end up buying the Cooper ST's in a 255-85-16 online for about $640 for 4 of them to my door. Pretty cheap and they are a very good tire from what i understand.

Mounted on some steelies with about 4.75 or 5 inch backspace to push them out a little more and they should be nice.

do you have a lift?
do you have a stock drivetrain?
i wouldn't recommend over 32",say "265-75-16" for example, with a stock drivetrain especially if height is std.
