i just went thru this as well but for 245/75/16. cooper discoverer STT is really cool and affordable around $190 each. dean durango radial MT made by cooper around $144. dunlop mud rover $124 from tirerack. check tires-easy.com as well

The problem is so many of these tires are only available regionally. Once I have to pay to ship Maxxis Tires to Ohio, they are no longer "cheap." Same with Hercules Tires.

Sift through, see what you can get in your area, but I do agree, the money you save short term, more often than not you'll lose in the long term...

Hitech retreads are great bang for the buck tires. Run a search on here and you can see the tires, wear, reviews. I will be buying another set when it's time for new rubber.

Hercules, Hercules, Hercules!!!

Flyfisher is right. I just put on my second set of Hercules tires last week. I had the Terra Trac MT's. Anything I ever got stuck in was never a result of the tire. Now I have the new Trail Digger MT in a 285/75/16. I'll let you know how they work after the weekend.

Have fun shopping. March first say a industry wide price increase of 7 - 10%. More fallout of the high crude prices. You just need to search for the best prices almost daily to see who is giving the best deals. Discount tire will also meet or beat any verifiable internet price( bring the web address with you)

For trail only tires you can save a few bucks going with a bias ply. Mastercraft carries a 7.50-16 lugger style. Equivalent to a 235 85 r 16 in size

Check these out

5 X 265 75 16 - $750.00 plus 65 - 110 for shipping
