Creating a new thread so as not to take away from the spotlight on Trump...

Forgot about the pistol, not SBR...I was winging it off of memory.

I was a bit surprised to see his name, but it pretty much summed up my position. I've had some very good friends post on FB the "if you own guns, blood is on your hands comment." Very disappointed in them. We normally see eye-to-eye, just not on guns.

Have you seen that author on The Atlantic posting letters from various people? That guy's an idiot. Wrote a piece in 1981 on the M16, but believes the AR is more lethal than the M16. Really? Doesn't differentiate between twist, bullet weight, design...just the bullet coming out is more lethal. On top of that, he'll post letters from people rebutting what he said - followed by a lengthy response as to why he thinks they are wrong. But those that agree with his position (ban ARs) even with factually wrong statements? No comments.:banghead::banghead:

Here's an example of the hype of "bullets from assault weapons" to put fear into people that the AR is an insta-kill bullet - not talking about that it's at the low end of the hunting spectrum. Because, of course, the anti-gunners don't want to take away hunting rifles, just those evil ARs.

The whole situation is retarded. The anti's are using emotion to discuss what should be based off of logic and realism.

Is there a gun violence issue in the USA? Yes
Will banning certain types of weapons, like AR
s, stop this? No, most deaths are caused by pistols.
Is the anti's platform based off of emotion based reactions? Yes, if someone killed a bunch of kids with a musket I'm sure they would be looking to ban those. Guess the thousands of other people who get killed by gun violence are less important than kids. All people are important.
I can go on and on. Its a people problem, not a tool problem.

One only has to take a look at various active shooter studies... As Gunny said, most have had handguns. A 'few' shooters have had multiple weapons, to include rifles and shotguns, but that number is pretty low. Bottom line is that those types of incidents make headlines because they really do not happen all that frequently, despite the media hype. Illegally obtained firearms is a whole different story.

We all know this isn't going anywhere and was just submitted so that in the mid-terms they can use the 'Republicans didn't want gun control' line.

It's just a shame to me that our politicians split on such dumb dumb things - I mean what is it about being a Democrat that makes someone "anti-gun ownership" and Republicans "pro gun ownership" Generally speaking?

It's like how Democrats are against nuclear waste storage in Nevada and Republicans are for it. How in the fuck is that a political issue? Either we need to put it somewhere or we keep storing it under armed guard all over the US.

The shit that splits on party lines is confusing as hell to me.

In regards to this specific issue, my Leftist colleagues think I'm alt-Right, and Right-wing colleagues think I'm alt-left. Someone just refered to me as alt-Left again in the DT thread, even though I'm a gun owning, range member, who routinely shoots all types of firearms (including tactical rifles) with family and friends on public land. The divisive difference is where I draw the line between civilian and state weaponry. It truly is instantly polarizing.

The term 'assault rifle' is so freakin misunderstood and over used.

The Call of Duty criteria is an option. If it's in a video game, ban it. Not only to disappoint deranged would-be murderers who play out their fantasies in virtual, but to piss off these types:

Wood is good, black is bad.

Some of those manufacturers should make white rifles and see if they are accepted by the libs. Then we can bring racism into this dipshit argument.

I was just at Field and Stream (Dick's owned) a few weeks ago browsing traditional hunting rifles and left disappointed by the selection. The selection over recent years has been taken over by products intended for the black-ops JK crowd. Looking forward to revisiting now.

Walk in a Cabala's or Outdoor world and you'll never go into another Field and Stream. Either way with internet deals now you won't catch me at a Dicks sporting goods. They mark their shit up like 25% easy, then give you a rewards card to get the price back down to reg. No thanks jerkoffs. And before anyone says it, I'm not a cheap bastard, just don't like to get taken for a ride.

And paying sales tax in NC, no thanks.
