Walk in a Cabala's or Outdoor world and you'll never go into another Field and Stream. Either way with internet deals now you won't catch me at a Dicks sporting goods. They mark their shit up like 25% easy, then give you a rewards card to get the price back down to reg. No thanks jerkoffs. And before anyone says it, I'm not a cheap bastard, just don't like to get taken for a ride.

And paying sales tax in NC, no thanks.

Sportsman's Warehouse and a local store that's been around since the '60s (not many left) are the best around here. Much better selection in nearly every category. Field and Stream is a relative newcomer to the area. Nice lodge style store. Not impressed otherwise. Rumor is Cabela's is coming soon.

If a gun store follows established rules/regs, what else can you ask of them? A lot of this 'closing' deals are just pressure from the society.

Ten years ago, or so I could have participated in this conversation. Today I, like a large subset of Americans, no longer has the patience. Those who push this “shall be infringed” agenda are not merely historically ignorant, they are dangerous.

After sandy hook with obama in office, it was clear nothing would ever actually happen

Walmart announced Wednesday that it is raising its age restriction to 21 for firearm and ammunition purchases.
The company said in its statement that it made the decision in light of recent events and will try to implement this change "as quickly as possible."
Walmart also pointed out that in 2015 it ended sales of certain sporting rifles like the AR-15. The company also said it doesn't sell accessories like bump stocks or high-capacity magazines.

That's pointless. Parents will still issue their kids firearms if they have a shooting or hunting hobby; as well they should; and people will still steal the things.

As well, it's unconstitutional at this time, but so is the same pistol regulation. At 18, one has full rights as a citizen, and the responsibility to sign up for the draft.

Now, if they want to raise the age at which one becomes a full citizen, there is an argument to be made; but that's not going to happen, now is it? Of course not.

Cheers,

Kennith

For those that are pro-gun, are there any regulations that you think should be in place that aren't already? Note: I know nothing about gun regulations other than I can't have one (or even a pocket knife) in NYC.

Personally, I think if you are purchasing a gun, you should have to have a safe place to store it. My next door neighbor in Virginia had his house broken into and they took was his handgun. I think part of gun ownership is properly storing your weapon.

Dont you think your house should be a safe place? The problem with applying logic to criminals is they are not constrained by logic. As for rules that should be in place? How about the death penalty for those caught and convicted using a gun in a crime. it would assure, for the executed person at least, they will never commit a gun crime again.

I'm all for improving the background in background checks. Bump stocks can go away. Universal background checks (even for private purchases) is fine (seller can fill out the form and call a 1-800 number). The gun restraining order is ok (as long as there a provision to have it lifted if one demonstrates they are not a threat).

Banning certain guns (beyond the current full auto ban) - no bueno.

I'm also all for increased scrutiny and background checks. Make me wait to buy another handgun or rifle, I don't care. Of course, I also have to ask if the country would somehow feel better if the nutjob Cruz did his deed in March instead of February. Because that's the reality. Until we acknowledge that some people are fucking crazy and they need to be identified and treated, nothing else will make much of a difference. Oh, wow, you have to be 21 at Dick's Sporting Goods now. Big fucking deal. I had no idea Dick even sold guns. Oh, Walmart's jumping on the bandwagon, that just warms my big liberal heart. Fucking bullshit all for show.

We also have to acknowledge that the government overlords are worthless on these matters, as evidenced by the 50+ or however fucking many "heads-ups" they received about this shit-for-brains Cruz. Hell, he even called the cops on himself. No agencies communicate. Why in the hell are there dozens of agencies that can't seem to communicate. How about having 1 agency called "Get shit done"?

I am completely against mandatory registrations though. Unless the criminals abide by it too. That is where the shit gets real if the government every tries to pull that stunt. What I have is my private property none of your damn business. Sure, I buy a new one, you know it, I'll suffer that.

Regarding safe place to store it, this is common sense to a guy like me. I'm confident that I have the safest storage place for miles around. But ol' Cleatus buys hisself a shotgun and keeps it behind the porch door. Then some crack heads or local thugs steal it and there's more fuel on the fire.

I live in Vancouver BC Canada, I've never met anyone who felt the need to have a gun for protection. I know very few people who own guns. I don't think I've ever held a gun.

Here, a gun has to be in a locked container at home, and most guns have to be locked in cases for transport aswell, unloaded.

My father had hunting rifles, they were always in a metal safe locked in the house unless he took them hunting. One day his licence expired and the Police knocked on the door and took them away.

I don't have a problem with that.
