This was the plastic G-Code holster that mike97d1 recommended, not the Galco.

Unfortunately, I can't recommend the holster anymore. Look what it did to my new Glock:

The rivnuts are not sufficiently countersunk into the plastic holster body and are scratching the gun when it's inserted. Fuck.

You should see what my safariland holster has done to my g23. Granted, I didn't pay for either of them, they were issued to me. The way I look at it is that a gun is a tool. Tools get scratched and worn when used. If you want a gun to stay pristine and perfect, then never remove it from the safe.

I'm sorry to hear that the Glock got scratched. Were you able to get the screw to not continue to scratch it? Unfortunatly even good leather holsters will put makes on the muzzle end. I still think the g-code stuff is a great deal. The tennifer finnish is pretty tough, you might be able to get it looking a little better with some good cleaned and a microfiber cloth.

I just ordered a glock 17c and will be using my g-code with that one quite a bit. I've been carrying the 27 on my ankle alot lately instead of on the hip.

Check out UBG holsters, good quality holsters. Had a "Canute" for a year or so and loved it, very comfortable.

But the only problem with custom holsters is the horrendous wait!

No love for Galco in here?

I wear a Galco Triton Kydex IWB almost every day. Took a little getting used to at first but, it holds the gun well, draws nice, and it's real easy to re-holster. I have the optional belt loops for it as well since the clip that comes with it looked pretty flimsy.. The clip actually works pretty good. I have yet to have the holster come out with the gun while practicing. I do wear my belts tight though since I am a fat ass. Only down side so far for me is that it makes rub marks on my trigger guards (polymer frames not sure about metal) but, I really don't care since they are carry guns that I consider a tool not some thing I'm planning on handing down to my kids like a full on custom high end 1911.

I also have the Don Hume that Gus posted and I like it except for the clip and it needs more re-enforcement at the opening. It is fine if you have a belt made out of thin material but, if you have a thick belt like one of Don Hume's gun belts the clip won't fit over it correctly. Also, once you draw the opening closes and it makes it harder to re-holster.

Blackhawk makes a Leather IWB for the P226 that I like. Has an adjustable tightening bolt so you can change how easy it is to draw. The opening doesn't close up as much as the Don Hume mentioned above. Has worked well for the time that I carried it every day.

For OWB carry I just use a Blackhawk Serpa CQC. The only time I use an OWB is when I'm open carrying and I like the Serpa for that.

Eric, do you open carry in NoVA? Any hassles?

Why open carry in general public (unless you don't have a CWP in VA, which is easy to get)? All it says is, Look at me, I got a gun. Not talking about being on a range of course, or if it is part of your day-to-day work.

P.S. I know it doesn't relate to the earlier question, but I really don't understand why some people do it, other than to either show off, or stress their 2nd amendment rights...

Which is why I asked. NoVA leans a bit more to the left than the rest of the state and I can imagine the sheeple being aghast if confronted with the offensive sight of openly carried firearm, legal or not.

Exactly. In the years I have lived in VA I have only seen a handful of individuals open carry, and let me tell you, the ones who did, did not exactly look "right."

Every once in a while I will but, it's usually really late at night while walking the dog when the only people I'd run into aren't people I want near me. You will get messed with open carrying around here. People will call the cops and report seeing someone with a gun and they will come to check you out or just mess with you. Some stores will ask you to leave or not let you in. 99.9% of the time that I carry, I'm carrying concealed. There are just too many people up here that think if you aren't a cop and you have a gun you must be a mugger, gang member, or you're going to rob some place. I haven't really seen anyone open carrying around here that didn't have a badge. You would need one good holster too. Something with at least a thumb break because some of these crack heads would try to steal it from you.

Sadly, G-Code has not responded to my attempts to get this defective holster replaced. This "company" seems like a garage operation run by college students. $82 wasted. Fail.

I suppose the synthetic materials are easy to work with as opposed to leather. Every gun forum that I frequent has someone who makes them in their garage.

If you googled 'kydex holster' you'd probably find a thousand companies, all trying to cash in.

I'll stick with dead cows and horses.

$82.... My G-Code was like $40. I think $82 is way steep. Did you order i direct from them, or a vendor?

I ordered the holster, plus the belt loop attachment. It came to $82 with shipping. I ordered from TacticalHolsters who--I assume--is also the manufacturer.

It's a shame. I actually do like the plastic holster.

Can you file the screw head down, or some how make it not hit?

Lee, most every gun forum I've been on has three or four guys making kydex holsters. Quality and attention to detail seemed to vary.
