I purchased the kydex paddle for my LCP off ebay. I actually sent them my lasermax, as he didn't have one to mold off of. He made a couple molds of it, and sent it back with my holster. He gave me a good discount for doing it, also. They have a web store also. I'm extremely happy with it, and my department approved it for carry.

I'm a big Fobus fan, as well.

Their offerings are durable, functional, and can be arranged in many ways to suit individual needs and preferences. They also offer holsters compatible with lights, and I'm a big fan of lights.

Cheers,

Kennith

I got all my kydex in, I am going to play around with it over the next week. I also decided to get a bore sighter kit at bass pro. A buddy of mine works there part time and lets me get his discount. Since I needed to do four rifles it was worth the money. People claim that after using the kit they within 2-5 shots on paper. I am going to shoot them and will let yall know how it goes.

I've been playing around with kydex lately to make my own for my Glock 19 w/the surefire X300 on it-I didn't like any of the production options and decided to get it a try. This is one of the early models that was still in fine tuning (you can see some pencil line on it for further sanding):

I've found that it isn't difficult to make something but it can be time consuming to make something nice. Startup cost isn't too bad but it is worth getting the good foam, making a decent press, and having the stuff for rivets and the like all on hand. A fair amount of prep work and then a lot of finishing work too.

I also grabbed a plastic training G19 so that I wasn't pressing hot kydex against my actual pistol and then clamping down on it over and over, fairly cheap on ebay and since my intent was to make a variety of holsters I figured it was worth the investment.

Hey could you post a picture of your press you built? I have a couple of ideas. I bought the foam from knife kits and also had the rivet press. I was going to start out with a knife sheath and go from there. Do you heat it up with a heat gun or do you go with the toaster oven

I got the foam from knife kits too, my press is basically 12x12 (cut one of their 12x24 sheets in half). It's crappy, but works. I loosened up the screws holding the hinges down to facilitate more even pressure across the mold; that's where the three clamps come in handy.

I've been doing some knife work too, mostly for my Gerber MK II's:

I use the oven vice a toaster oven. The heat gun I only use for fine tuning. Followed mostly from this:

nice!

I think I'm going to build something like this.

Not a bad setup, reminds me of how ghetto fabulous mine is. I would say that having the ability to clamp from the sides seems to help me get a better form throughout the mold. Another helpful tool I should have added, or really rather a few, is a small standing belt sander (I got the Harbor Freight special b/c I knew it was just for light duty) and a dremel with grinding wheels and what have you.

I'll post up some more holsters when I re-gain momentum, have a few more I want to do just got too busy.
Good luck!

Yeah it seems that a small belt sander would be great. I haven't fooled with it much yet. Probably wont until after deer/duck season is done

I recently bought a kydex holster from oldfaithful.com. It is great and i highly recommend them for the $50 or so I spent.

A good one for carry or a cheapfuck one for the range?

Milt Sparks, Kramer, and Rosen know their way around a good holster for the P7.
