Is it worth trying to fix?

I have a 2001 Disco 2 with 170,000 miles on it. Last month the engine just cut off while I was making a turn. I had it towed back to the house and it started right up. I took it to AAMCO and they found nothing. The engine cut out again while I driving home from the AAMCO. I then had it towed to a local rover shop in Virginia and the truck started right up. The shop hooked the truck up to the diagnostic computers and nothing showed up on it. Last week the rover would not start for the shop and they told me that it is putting out weird electrical readings and the fuel pump is getting no current. (It basicly sound like I have a weird electrical issue and it might cost more to fix my rover than what it is worth. I will get better answer today when I talk to shop.)

Does anyone have any suggestions before I write my rover off.

Crank sensor bad?
Ground behind the fuse box under the hood loose? that causes some weird problems.
Must not be a very good rover shop if they couldn't diagnose this...

If your local Rover shop was worth a damn they would know that the issue most likely is caused by a malfunctioning crank position sensor.

I will check on that.

The main problem is that voltage and amprage readings are all out of wack at the front fuse box. It sounded like (I will be going to the shop in about an hour) certian areas of the fuse box are showing positive when they should be negitive, certian curcits are not grounded or have no power.

Only you can decide if it's worth fixing.

What you have described sounds like it could be many things. That said, make damned sure that whoever is working on it has the ETM, a Rover-specific diagnostic computer and preferably, some experience working on Rover electrical problems.

I'm about six or seven hours from you if you wanted to haul it up here, but it would be a week at least before I could get to it.

That doesn't even make sence. If the shop told you that, take it to another shop. :banghead:

I'd say it is the crank position sensor also. I just replaced mine because of similar symptoms.
