I just took ownership of a 97 SE7 with 37,000 on it. Picking it up tomorrow afternoon. My question is on the transfer case shifter it says low, neutral and high. The guys lost the owners manual so how do I run it driving down the road. Does the shifter go father back to take it out of 4H.

The guy had 6 vehicles he spread mileage over so it's almost new. Carpet in back seat isn't even dirty. The biggest pisser is the tires are dry rotted and the are in excellent shape so I've got to put new sneakers on it before I head up to the Cape next week to do some oversand driving. Stay tuned for a poser shot from the Cape:D

LR's are 4-wheel drive all the time, so normal driving is in 4H ... if you require low gear (offroading, etc..), put the transmission in neutral, shift the transfer case to low, and then put the transmission back in drive. There is also CDL (center diff lock), while either in High or Low, you can move the shifter to the left which will engage your CDL and give you 50/50 power to front & rear axles.

I do seem to remember someplace on perhaps www.landrover.com or www.mylandrover.com there are downloadable manuals.

Good luck with it... 97 w/ 37k miles on it is a nice find..

OK, I though it might be but figured I'd ask to make sure I wasn't doing something wrong. I did see the diff. lock which I thought was Fing cool. I never thought I'd be owning one this soon but you never know what you'll find on craigslist. I checked that site everyday for over a month and looked at some real POS and decided to up the price range. Now my wife wants this one and says I need to find my own:banghead: . Not in this lifetime.

Drillbit, It set me back $6800. It was worth it to me for the condition of it. After looking at what people called "gems" and getting frustrated I decided to step it up a notch.

Night train, I would find it hard to believe this vehicle had a 1 in front of the 37,000. If I find out otherwise this guy is in a world of shit. Back of title says Federal offense to falsify info. I really don't know how you would tell if it was 137,000. This did cross my mind until I crawled all over vehicle and checked it out. Very clean

Thats a good deal

was the loadspace cover included? That seems like the first thing an original owner sits in the corner of the garage before sticking a forsale sign in the truck.

Run a car fax on it, it will tell you about mileage at inspections/titles....

The Discovery ODO is a 6 character odo, so the 1 should have come up if it was 137k

I thought the '99 I bought with 74K miles had low miles.

My 2001 (with the nipple  ) had 50k when I bought it in February. But I would have gladly bought another '97 with that kind of mileage.

That's my method of thinking. I heard car fax works only if it went through insurance or something like that. Correct me if I'm wrong though.

Just had the maiden voyage home and it drives like a tank. Very solid. My daughters love it and the wife already tried to steal it. Needs to be lifted up a little and taller tires to get rid of the soccer mom look and give it some ground clearence. Is it normal for them to have a little wiggle from time to time going down the road ? Trying to figure out if it happens when I hit a bump or not.

Odds are that the low range/cdl shifter has never been used in 11 years, and its siezed so you wont have either for your trip to CT next week. Strongly recommend you make sure these things actually work before you go.

Here is a good shop in Mass to go to Southwest of Boston www.citysidegarage.com

Yes, low range works(I tried it) and I didn't know about the CDL so that I don't know. I check it tomorrow for sure. I'll snap some pic's also but don't shoot me for the poser shots though.
