I just saw these guys are advertising some places again. John Monohan from the UK who lives in Arkansas now is a thief and a lair. He ripped me off for 700 bucks and got at least two other people on this board. Don't send him your radios or any money. You will likely never see either of them again

He was there last year, that's when I met him. I've heard vague stories of this but never detailed descriptions of instances when it has happened.

I was tempted to have the stock radio refurbed....and the Range Rover Classic LED window switches look cool...but then these stories surface over and over.

It took him forever to pay me for one I sold him.I mailed it usps so had to threaten mail fraud... Never again. I think ot even had it worse. But not 700 worse.

I sent him a Defender radio and the flat-rate repair payment that he demanded in advance.

Foolishly I thought I had a friendly relationship with him until he informed me I was not to ever call him again and that he conducted all business via e-mail.

OK, fine, I'll patiently wait.

Eventually, he informed me he couldn't get parts for the unit right away. I patiently waited more. Finally, my client demanded his radio back and John refused to return it.

In the meantime, my client died.

I am out the cost of the flat-rate repair and never did get the radio back.

At one point, IIRC he threatened to send me video of his setting the unit afire.

EVERYONE other than Disco Mike that I've spoken with has had somewhat similar experiences. The best I've heard were that he took forever to return their "repaired" radios.

Well, damn. I'd love to get an OEM head unit back into the D1 and had considered them.

Not anymore.

Is there anyone else that repairs these radios? Or do I just need to look for a working example and hope for the best?

Worse yet, if you do send him a radio and have the audcatiy to complain, he will respond with the most vehement arguments that it's your fault.

Great customer service skills.

I no longer support SCARR due to his involvement. I won't support an entity that allows such a thief to be a part-worse yet, he won a donation made by me one year.
