I've had them three times now. First time I was 29, then 32 and then again at 37. Drink LOTS of water. The more you piss, the quicker you'll unload the thing.
Last time around the meds made me ill and I barfed up a kick ass sockeye salmon dinner I made on the grille. Made a mess of the porch too!

I just passed an 8mm nasty little bugger. It was in my bladder for 6 weeks..and that was after 1 month of it getting there...easily the worst one i have eber passed.
To top it off...it got lodged in ma hoo-hoo the day that i had lots of allergies and was sneezing like crazy making it worse.

The doc said if he knew it was that large..he would have blasted it...but he kindly let me keep this one for bragging rights

Thanks guys. Before this, I seldom drank water...so my body is going a little crazy now that im drinking so much of it.

The beer didnt work...made me sick. Took a few sips and I had to stop.

I was rushed to the ER from work on Tus and after a CT, I was told I had one. Its thursday now and I can feel the thing in the front now. The kidney pains were brutal...we'll see how it goes when it comes time to give birth to this thing.

The most painful thing I have ever fealt. I had them during the winter of my fifth grade year. I am now 18. Needless to say I went down in the record books once again at the doctors office and the hospital. I tried to pass it but it was too big so I was supposed to have surgery to get them blasted, out-patient surgery, supposed to be out in 2 hours. I was in the hospital for 5 and a half days. It was awful.

I'm sure they told you no booze. Most of the meds they give you state that too.

I only drink water, milk and a beer every few days. I've talked to many doctors about this and no one gives the same answer. I have a very good diet with no soda or other similar drinks, VERY rarely eat fast food, etc., etc.
But if you can capture the stone they might be able to analyze it and determine what might be causing them for you.
They've told me that I just "produce" them now, so to expect them in the future. They always come at a shitty time. Last time was just before a 2 week trip to Montana. Fucking things.

Uh huh laugh it up fat ass. You know I don't eat McDs, Burger King, but maybe once every 2-3 months something from Sheetz. I don't even have any fast food around where I live.
But when I am traveling that can/does change. I will order a Coke, pizza and a pint of Ben & Jerrys for dessert. Sometimes JB and I each get a spoon and share!
Unlike JB who spent who knows how much on a fancy pants kitchen, yet can hardly boil water. We actually cook.......turnups, squash, local beef, eggplant, etc.
So kiss my ass bitches.

Garrett does make a good burger! He "wheels" to his foo foo butcher in Middleburg, talks horses, and walks out with $50-a pound beef!

During Desert Storm, lots of guys got kidney stones. We were told it was from the de-salinated water we were drinking. I didn't get one, but I did have a urinary stricture, where I couldn't pee at all. Now that was painful, especially when the aid station tried to catherize me and partially inflated the little balloon, not in my bladder, but my upper urethera. :ack: Luckily for me, as I still couldn't pee, they took me to a Combat Support Hospital where there was a reservist doctor there who was a urologist in real life.... :applause: I could have kissed that guy when he opened the stricture enough for me to pee, as it had been almost 20 hours since I had gone (and I drank a LOT of water in Saudi)...

I have now had a kidney stone that has not passed for over THREE months of unending, excruciating pain. I also had a gallstone at the same time & had to have emergency surgery to remove my gallbladder. I haven't been at work since March. They can't blast the stone, and I may end up needing surgery to remove it at this point. NOT FUN.

It's in the kidney, but keeps blocking the ureter. Since my health is so top notch to start with, I'm used to being in pain & have a much higher tolerance for pain than most, but this is even more than I can cope with and hold down work at the same time. My stone isn't a candidate for any of the wave/zapping therapies, unfortunately. I already have a team of specialists I see regularly for my chronic conditions, so it's not like I've blown this off or just gotten one opinion. Having another surgery is not a pleasant option for me, since I don't heal and tend to develop complications. I've been trying to deal with the pain & hope the stone goes away on its own.

Wow, I'm sure you feel much better after having passed one that big. When I passed my big stone, I felt it every inch of the way and what a relief to hear it hit the toilet bowl.

Alyssa:
Good luck with it. Persistent health issues suck. I'm hoping the three rheumatologists I now am seeing can get this freaking myositis under control so my lungs will continue working.

Getting old sucks!
