So you get half a loaner car and they only keep your car a week and a half?

When I had my D2 that lived at San Jose Land Rover due to warranty work I only got a loaner 2 times. First one was a Freeloader, which convinced me in one day that I'd never buy one and the second was a 4.6 D2 that while not a rocket, did make some more HP. The rest of the time it was call Enterprise.

the real problem with porche design is that they're out of practice - their cars have all looked exactly the same for the past 40 years, so its no wonder they fuck up everything new. :p

the 911 is still great, the boxter, cayman, panorama, cayenne are all trying to compete with other makes...

Mike,

Sold the RRC to a guy in Texas, I got tired of having to fix something every time I got in it. I am thinking of finding a diesel RR sport or 110 for use in the Dominican and I might pick up a D2 just for fun for the US.

Kyle,

My Boxster has a 3.6l engine and 325 hp (dyno) and weighs 2300lbs. I believe that the hp/ton would put it in the category of "real porsches".

I drove the 2010 911 Carrera S ($105k sticker) and the Cayman S ($77k sticker) recently and was surprised that I actually prefered the Cayman S. The mid engine configuration is better balanced. The 911 is a bit roomier. If I only had one car it would be a 911 but with more than one the Cayman S is winner hands down.

The Panamera might be fugly to some, but my reports are that on track days, that big ass car is smoking a lot of carreras, beemers, mercs, astons, jags etc.

The Cayenne is a real possibility for me if my 03 RR starts acting up. I would dump it for the Cayenne in a second. I think Top gear was way off the mark on the trashing the looks but Jeremy is candid that he does not like Porsche.

The 914 was originally suppsed to be a VW.

So was the 944...

Where I'm at, there are so many Panameras around. They really don't stand out. Dunno if its because they only come in black and silver...blending in with all the other cars on the road or if they aren't memorable.

I bet they are the highway champeen. My buddy has a Cayman and its amazing on the highway. Not too hot up in the mountains but still mighty quick.

924 actually. It used the vw-audi 4cyl motor, and was planned to be sold in europe as a volkswagen. the 944 used the head, pistons and conn rods of the 928 and was designed as a Porsche replacement to the 924.

The last real porsche was made in 1998 (993 cab).

Land rover still makes real land rovers, we just can't buy them new from the dealer here.

Drive my 01 911 carrera4 and it will make you think twice about calling a boxster a porsche..they do things with awd that defy the laws of newtonian origin

the handling is way different than rwd:

drive my friends 911turbo and it will make you turn religious very quickly

I do not consider the LR3 a 'rover', the way a d90, or a series or a d1/2 is a 'rover', similarly, no cayman/boxster or cayanne/panamerica(no-thanks) is not a porsche, not in the purist sense

I always thought the 924 engine was out of a truck in Europe. Very similar to a Audi 100 engine. Wow what a gutless POS. That same engine was also put in some of those little USPS mail trucks(jeep things).

The 911 is perfect. Porsche sells every car they build. Why fix it if it aint broke. The Panemera really is groce and I'm sure that fucker Piech is behind it. I'm confidant it will be accepted in coming years. No one liked the Cayenne either but now is very accepted. Got passed on the right(hole shot)by a new Cayenne with hugs Brembo brakes in Schwarz the other day. Wish I had one.

Landrovered, you mean 968 in your signature not 986..

My 2001 Boxster S is a 986 not a 968. It has a 3.6L 2004 Carrera S engine conversion with single mass flywheel, headers, tweaked DME, big intake and sport exhaust. The conversion was done by Autometrics, they build race cars for Grand Am, ALMS, Porsche Cup and IMSA.

Mike,

I am going to build a wheeler for the twenty first century, my RRC was so 1993. I want Denny to build me a carbon fiber bumper for the RR HSE!
