Thats like asking would you like to get kicked in the nuts or punched in the nuts. I would have to pick the H2. At least I could put alot of crome and spinners on it and get some respect on the street.

If I had 50k to buy a car it wouldn't be either of these!
I know a guy who's had his H2 in the shop more than the trail. The guy is also loaded and likes to throw money away, so it is the perfect car for him.
Its hard to compare cars when one hasn't even been introduced yet but give it some time a dumb A$$ can ruin a LR3 as quick as an H2.
I am no mechanical genius so I think the more electronics, hydrolics etc. the more trouble your asking for. Keep it simple and over build it! I think I fly to England and have a defender shipped back over here for cheaper than either of those.

Just me though

Frankly I could not decide between an H2 or an LR3 until I see an LR3. If it is not as capable off road as a D1 or D2, then I would have to go with the H2. I have seen the H2 do some pretty nice stuff out here in CO. Most of the guys taking them out have replaced the weakest links, just like we do to our LRs. I don't buy new rigs anymore, so the LR3 isn't going to make a big difference to me anyway.

Well, if I had $50k to spend on a vehicle, I would keep my 92RR and my 99D2 and assume those would be my trail rides. The LR3 was never designed to be an off road replacement for previous Discovery models. At least it doesn't appear so. Also, since none of us has had the opportunity to prove how lousey it is, it is kind of like comparing getting kicked in the nuts to having something unknown happen. Could be worse, could be the same, who knows? At any rate, I am taking the position that the LR3 might be a suitable replacement for my lovely bride's D2, since it will more than likely be a mall crawler. No expectations for more than that.

LR3 of course The comfort, reputation, and by far the looks. The H2 has to be considered a new suv since they did redesigned the whole thing. The H2 will never compare to the H1. They might as well call it a chevy suburben II. But at the end of the day the LAND ROVER will always be in my driveway.

Speculation until actually driven, but from what I've read about the LR3 it is light years ahead of the H2. The H2 only surpasses the LR3 in size, towing capacity, and Bling Bling

probably on the outside, but man, have you ever sat in one? that interior is cramped and you can barely see out of it. really is poor volume design although intentional.

who knows, maybe the LR3 will surprize us all. :D

The bottom line is that whether you like them or not, you have no choice. There's no more utilitarian SUVs. Even Jeep is redesigning the Wrangler for 2007.

I don't like the LR3 but if I was looking for an on road only rig I might take a look?

and as for the H2 to even think about that retarded rig makes me laugh. The drivetrain is weak, ball joints hilarious, steering is poor, its weighs 50 tons and will sink to china in a swamp then you better hope onstar has a military helicopter (or Lr's) to pull you out, if your in the bush better have a chainsaw with you to widen some of the narrow spots and tight turns so you don't get that huge tank wedged, and just think how cool you would look blinging it when your trying to park the thing in a lot as 4 spotters are guiding you back and forth.... Possibly if I was a wannabe rapper I'd throw 22's on it, a gold trim package and 10,00 watt system ... H2 owners definately drive head turners, just like those guys with the feiro ferraris...then we all have a good laugh :D

GM took the HUMMER name and built a joke suburban Hummer Kit Truck .

i'd take the LR3, the H2 is an all weather vehicle and the LR3 is an all terrain vehicle

I would definitely take an LR3 over an H2, that's a no brainer. The H2 had minimal thought put into it's design in my opinion.

Thats being way too nice "minimal thought" Tell it like it is the H2 is a JOKE JOKE JOKE JOKE JOKE!!

The H2 and all those stupid big ass fuel chugin useless wannabe battleship looking freaking ridiculus SUV's (Stupid and Useless Vehicle) are down right humiliating to the human race. And it sickens me to think people actually buy them and like them.. But hey if you can make a buck off the suckers all the power to you.....I guess?

Push Pull Drag

I've seen an H1 do some amazing things on the trail,,,unbelievable off-cambers! H2 seems designed more to survive a trip to the grocery store than any off-road situations,,, break-over angle makes H2 destined for high-centered extraction situations.

I guess same can be said of LR3,,,,,, but I would rather Push Pull or Drag the pieces of a broken LR3 out of the trail than drive an H2 ! :D

a Land Rover is a "fuel chugin" SUV, if you don't like what other people drive then don't drive it, but you're gettin pretty worked up about those "stupid big ass fuel chugin useless wannabe battleship looking freaking ridiculus SUV's (Stupid and Useless Vehicle)" as you called them...you're being a hypocrit....go get on a prius site and talk shit about SUV's

I personally could care less about fuel consumption on the H2. I just think that it didn't have the time put into design as somehting like the LR3 did. I mean the H2 is a suburban with a new body stuck on it. There's nothing innovative about it. I won't knock H1s though. My girlfriend's Dad has one, and I have seen what those things can do, there's no mistaking what that vehicle was designed to do.

H2 Mia

Despite my comments on LR3 in another thread, I'll take it off-road over H2 any day. You NEVER see H2's on trails in Colo. They are MIA. Why? They are too damn wide,,,wouldn't fit on most trails and only use on shelf-roads would be plunging to your death. Break-over angle horrific (not that LR3 is a star in this dept). H1's got same problem w/ width but makes up for it w/ other strengths like extreme off-camber ability. Good buddy of mine just bought an H2,,, It's got all the bling-bling, etc. Killer stereo, DVD in back seat (he doesn't even have kids), on-board blender,,, it will never see the trail. (It's great in deep snow though,,,,)

Exactly. 12MPG for a disco is nothing to write home about, especially given its size. We also have an Exploder (Explorer), and it gets about 20mpg. For a truck the size of a disco, Gas chugging is a big weakness. I would even bet the window sticker of an H2 comes in around this 12mpg number, if not better.

That being said...I would not trade my DII for a LR3 or an H2...The LR3 is just too refined to do the trick, and the H2 is the biggest poser vehicle I have ever seen...at least until the H3 comes out.
