i got the email from Jason saying he was leaving back on 9/10. As for LRL closing it's doors, I haven't heard, but it wouldn't surprise me.

I really like Doug and Jason and I tried to help them when I could but you just have to have your shit together well enough to accept $ for subscriptions when they are offered. The "new economy"' demands that one be available to strike while the iron's hot. Look at Will and Marty, they are both really easy to contact and are prepared to collect when they need to.

It is a cool idea to appeal to the more refined interests of Land Rover owners and I think they did it well. However, I never saw an issue with Rovers, Rolexes, rifles and cheese! (of course, my subscription lapsed a coupla times!)

This doesn't surprise me. The high end of the market has imploded and related industries/companies will disappear.

I'm somewhat concerned about Jaguar Land Rover futures:

Jobs fear as Jaguar Land Rover to close one of two plants in West Midlands
25/09/2009

The luxury car maker told staff it will decide next year whether to close its Castle Bromwich Jaguar plant with 2,000 workers or its Solihull Land Rover plant, employing 5,000. ....

....Tata cut UK production by 100,000 cars, axed 2,500 jobs and froze pay in the recession but it could not stop ?660million profits falling to a ?350million loss last year.....

A billion ? swing

The only new product is the LRX plant financed by the British government. Mmmmm....

The luxury car market is going to get smaller. Will JLR still be around?

I bought a subscription for 08 because we cancelled our LRM sub and LRL was the cheaper, American alternative. It was ok...I enjoyed reading some of the articles and seeing SOME of the content. We got the December issue some time in January and then nothing else.

So, I emailed and asked if I was due for renewal---2-3 weeks later I got a response. Woman was very nice and encouraged me to go online and use a code to continue with the charter subscription rate....that didn't work so I emailed back and asked for her to mail me an invoice and the April issue we missed (which contained an article on the history of LR that looked decent). I think it was another 2 weeks before I got a response and she said she would mail me the issue and an invoice. I got both issues and an invoice in the mail very quickly after that. Doesn't look like they have completed another issue since June though.
