while in our lovely town of Columbus you all can swing by my shop and I will hook you up with some of our hand made marshmallows to keep you going on a sugar high to your next destination and if you are a bbq lover I can hook you up with that too!

Just an update: made to Villanova/Philly. Had to get a little local garage to rebalance the brand new tires..... Never let "VIP" parts store meatheads balance your wheels. They were shaking bretty badly and the guys here found weights on the wrong side of the wheel and 90 deg. off from correct. Wow. Luckily I knew of a decent place right here.

PT: Good timing, I just logged in here on my friends computer.

Are you "on the way" to Kansas City? I may need to slap some new shocks in the 4runner.... I have tools with me but *maaaaaaybe* you'd be around to lend me a flat space to do it in exchange for a beer or whiskey or three?

Mike - REALLY sorry we didn't connect. Next time my friend. :patriot:

OK, that's enough "smilies" for one post.

We head out tomorrow morning for Columbus.

Doug.

Morning all, I need to vent a little.

It's been a bit of a nightmare... boat and trailer were supposed to be "all-set" for me to pick up. Yeah, right, sure, OK. Tires (4) are VERY dry rotted and being replaced at 8am this morning. Boat was loaded wrong on the trailer and had no weight forward, was a MESS and things needed to be strapped down etc. Outboard motor was "missing" (they did find it.... on what I think was another employee of the marina's boat - yeah real nice! LOL) and the registration/license plate had expired 3 years ago! Last straw was/is the electric trailer brakes are marginal at best. Found a bad connection to one of the brakes last evening when I dropped her off at the tire place. So today while the tires get changed I will rewire the whole F#$King trailer and go thru the brakes.

At least the new owner of this boat, back in Maine, has no problem with my being compensated for the time/hassle and the parts etc. Thank goodness for that.

Mind you ALL these things were supposed to be addressed before I showed up and I had asked REPEATEDLY to be sure they were all set. What a bunch of idiots. I think the seller just ran away from it and the marina here was just a couple kids that didn't feel like working AT ALL. She is a really nice pretty boat though!

Sorry to rant - I needed to get it out somehow.

The 4runner seems to be working very well and tows the boat nicely **fingers crossed and knocking on wood everywhere**

Head out of here (Lawrence Kansas) today mid morning - headed toward Maine via 70 for a lot of it at least.

Welp - after new tires, a "quick" rewire and some other small TLC we hit the road.

Truck tows the boat very well, nice and smooth and plenty of power for the hills as long as I don't try to push it too hard. 60-65 seems nice and smooth and happy with overdrive shut off. 12MPG or so compared to 18-21mpg empty coming out here... I'm pretty happy with that.

Stopped for the night in Vandalia, IL (part way between St Louis and Indianapolis on IN 70) Was hoping to visit our very own "PT" north of Fort Wayne but that's about 3.5-4 hours of extra driving and GAS. Hate to say it but I may keep trucking on Interstate 70, we all love ya' PT but that may be too far for me. **SORRY!!**

Anyone else more along the way? Not sure just how far I'll make it tomorrow but I am taking my time for sure.

Blog instal ## ?? over. LOL.
